Music to Life is a very special organization. Their work empowering musicians to lead community change is truly inspiring, and we’re so proud to support their mission. Partnering with such a passionate, driven team reminds us why we do what we do—helping amplify good, measurable change. Pass the Mic is more than a concert—it’s a celebration of how music can unite and inspire us. Hosted by Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary) and Judy Collins, it features incredible artists like Melissa Etheridge, Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, and Michael Franti, alongside powerful stories from rising changemakers Jessica Harned, Byron Au Yong, and Sydney Guerrette. This show is FREE, but every contribution makes a difference. Donate $100+ with your ticket to join the After Party hosted by Noel Paul Stookey. We can’t wait to tune in and hope you’ll join us in celebrating this incredible work. Together, we can help Music to Life continue to "Pass the Mic" to the next generation of changemakers. The third greatest need for Idaho nonprofits is EVALUATION according to Idaho Nonprofit Center's and Idaho Community Foundation's 2024 State of the Sector Report: "...only 32% of nonprofits report having exceptional or considerable strength consistently evaluating the impact of their programs. Also, many grants do not provide extra funding for this type of work." Evaluation is more than just a checkbox or a report—it’s a critical tool for growth, adaptation, and credibility. With increased scrutiny on transparency and accountability, nonprofits need robust evaluation practices to keep pace, improve outcomes, and build donor trust. The report highlights four main areas nonprofits feel would strengthen their evaluation capacity: 1️⃣ Increased staff time/resources for evaluation 2️⃣ Training and skill development 3️⃣ Improved evaluation tools and systems 4️⃣ Clear evaluation goals and metrics These needs highlight a larger challenge in the sector: impact measurement is critical, yet often under-resourced. As the sector grows, so too does the need for reliable data on what’s working—and where there’s room to improve. Imagine a future where nonprofits of all sizes have the tools and support to accurately evaluate their impact. Not only would this enhance transparency and drive better outcomes, but it would also amplify each organization’s ability to attract and retain funding. This isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s essential to ensuring that the good work being done is measurable, visible, and capable of sustainable growth. It’s inspiring to see Idaho nonprofits advocating for these needs and pushing the conversation forward. When nonprofits have the support they need to evaluate their work, we all benefit from a clearer picture of the meaningful change happening in our communities.

In a world where consumers and stakeholders are savvier than ever, authenticity in impact reporting isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a must. With the growing demand for sustainability and social responsibility, some organizations unintentionally fall into the trap of greenwashing. Rather than getting lost in the race to appear “green” or “ethical,” let’s explore how organizations can take a proactive stance by embracing authentic storytelling, rooted in transparent, data-driven reporting that not only celebrates your success but also identifies any challenges you face in your organization’s ability to have a sustainable and positive impact through your work. At HMK Impact, we’re passionate about helping organizations tell their impact stories in a way that’s rooted in truth and authenticity. We believe that your impact is powerful—no embellishment needed. Through thoughtful, data-driven reporting and creative storytelling, we work with you to craft reports that celebrate your achievements and acknowledge your ongoing journey. Greenwashing is the wrong (and, frankly, outdated) way of communicating impact. We’re better than that and today’s stakeholders are looking for honesty, transparency, and action. By leading with your authentic story, you can build stronger relationships with your audience and demonstrate your genuine commitment to making a difference. HMK Impact is here to guide you in crafting a report that reflects who you are, where you’re headed, and the impact you’re truly making. Learn more at our blog on how we do this at HMK and contact us today to help share your impact in a truly authentic and accurate way.
