HomeAid Inland Empire held our December Board Meeting/Holiday Social at our office last night. Big thanks to those Board Members and Affiliates who came. We shared stories and refreshments, and recapped our accomplishments and the challenges we overcame this year. We couldn't do what we do without the dedicated members of our Board & Affiliates. Thank you, Builder and Developer Magazine for featuring HomeAid Inland Empire in the December edition. The article highlights a meaningful restoration project completed at Operation SafeHouse's Main Street Transitional Living Program. This critical renovation, led by Builder Captain Samuel Vazquez of Tilden-Coil Constructors and supported by generous trade partners, ensured the safety and accessibility of the facility by replacing exterior stairs and decking that had deteriorated over time. As HomeAid Inland Empire Board President Brian King shared: "It’s always inspiring to see how our efforts can make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Renovating these spaces is about more than just improving physical structures—it’s about creating an environment where residents can feel supported and empowered." This past Wednesday, HAIE Executive Director Matt Friedlander & Board President Brian King got a tour of our latest completed project: An exterior renovation of the 2nd floor decking and concrete stair replacement at Operation SafeHouse's Transitional Living Program apartments. They were joined by Operation Safehouse's Co-Founder and Board Chair Amy S. Harrison & Fund Development Director Julie Hale. The 2nd floor decking and plywood underneath had rotted out and many of the concrete stairs were loose and/or broken. The stairs were replaced with new precast concrete stairs, and all the decking was replaced with new. Check out the before and after pictures. This couldn't have been made possible without the leadership of Tilden-Coil Constructors and their Operations Manager Samuel Vazquez, who took on the task of Builder Captain and managed the project. Big thank you to them along with the trade partners they brought in to do the work at a significant discount and in some cases, donated in full. HomeAid Inland Empire also raised $15,000 to assist in the project. This morning, we made another one of our deliveries of diapers and other essentials to one of our nonprofit partners. Today's recipient was Mission Hope in Temecula. Their mission is to "envision a future where all people have a place to call home and enough food to thrive", and we're happy to be a partner in that mission.
