We are so excited and honored to be selected by Robert Morier as the nonprofit partner for his spring class at Drexel University's Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Drexel University is starting 2025 with IMPACT 🧨 My annual spring-term Funding For Impact course at Drexel University's Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship will once again, bring a case study to life by partnering with Hope for HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) and the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Students, come experience strategic philanthropy and mission-related investing firsthand. Our Funding for Impact course will provide students with a framework for measuring impact and outcomes for a growing non-profit dedicated to supporting children and families affected by Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. What you will take to the world: ⭐ Impact Measurement Expertise ⭐ Stakeholder Engagement ⭐ Strategic Philanthropic Skills ⭐ Venture Capital Principles for Non-Profits For our students in Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems and Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health you will also experience clinical research transition to care with Dr. Danielle Barber. Dr. Barber, an MD-PhD trained physician-scientist is also a practicing Child Neurologist with a focus on perinatal brain injury and hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. She will bring her studies of recovery after perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in the laboratory to our classroom at Drexel University as part of her work with Hope for HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) and Children's Hospital Colorado / University of Colorado School of Medicine. If you're interested in learning more about this course, check out the short film we made on last year's capstone trip to Vermont with Kate Williams and 1% for the Planet (our inaugural case study). Link below ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eKMj9X9j We're hoping Colorado is the setting for our next adventure! Please join us as we bring attention to this important cause and our classroom case study to life. For my professional network, don't hesitate to contact me if you're interested in learning more about our work at Drexel University and Hope for HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy).

So honored to be included in this as a co-author bringing the patient-family perspective. Thank you Courtney Wusthoff for including me — definitely not an easy endeavor to get this done!!! When doing this work, I bring the countless stories of our families — and especially those whose baby’s seizures are missed, which sometimes also closes the treatment window for cooling. So many people are working on that — from the QI impact these new guidelines can have, to people like Geraldine Boylan and Mark O'Sullivan and Lina Chalak who are implementing better screening and EEG tools for neonates in so many ways. And of course the whole #NeonatalSeizureRegistry team, many of whom were co-authors on this.
Senior Associate Dean For Faculty Promotions & Career Development at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine
It’s a new year and we have new evidence-based #guidelines for neonatal EEG monitoring from the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society! This is the first update since we published the 2011 guideline. Most neonatal seizures are subclinical. Unless the seizure involves the motor cortex, the baby won’t have rhythmic movements - that’s why #EEG is so important for at-risk newborns. Huge congratulations to Courtney Wusthoff for shepherding this monumental project. https://lnkd.in/gbW5ebiR

✨ Family Spotlight: The Jarett Family ✨ We’re continually inspired by remarkable families - like the Jarett Family - who remind us that connection and support can lead to meaningful moments that honor every unique HIE journey. At their wedding, Amelia’s aunt and uncle chose to forgo traditional wedding favors and instead made a donation to Hope in Amelia’s honor, with Amelia serving as their beautiful flower girl! To further raise awareness, they displayed a framed QR code, encouraging guests to learn more about Hope for HIE and their family’s story. It’s these moments in which we’re reminded of the power of family, connection, and the hope that unites us. 🩵 Read more about their story and how you, too, can Give Hope: https://lnkd.in/eNXSkCFn #GiveHope #HopefortheHolidays #HopeforHIE #hypoxicischemicencephalopathy #HIE #HIEawareness #HIEsupport

❄️ Give Hope for the Holidays this season and experience the powerful impact of our incredible Hope for HIE community. ❄️ This holiday season, we’re celebrating the amazing volunteers who make Hope for HIE such a supportive and special community, like Carol Stuart. As our Peer Support Mentor for extended family members and other HIE grandparents, Carol plays a key role in guiding those who are navigating this journey alongside their loved ones. As Carol reflects, bringing the community together “is not only a way to honor my granddaughter but also a way to contribute to the continued growth and hope for all our children and future children impacted by HIE." 🩵 Read more about Carol and her granddaughter, Isabel, at https://lnkd.in/dhmihGA6 #GiveHope #HopefortheHolidays #HopeforHIE #hypoxicischemicencephalopathy #HIE #HIEawareness #HIEsupport #SupportbyHope #ConnectionbyHope #PeerSupportMentor

✨ Family Spotlight: The Arnall Family ✨ We’re continually inspired by remarkable families—like the Arnall Family—who have transformed their personal experience with HIE into a meaningful effort to raise awareness and support others. Braedn has taken an active role in spreading awareness about HIE within his local gym community, using his voice to educate and connect with others. As an HIE Awareness Month Ambassador, he’s made an incredible impact by sharing Hope’s informational resources and engaging in local outreach, helping to ensure that no HIE family feels alone in their journey. 🩵 Read more about their story and how to Give Hope: https://lnkd.in/eh4GUFA5 #GiveHope #HopefortheHolidays #HopeforHIE #hypoxicischemicencephalopathy #HIE #HIEawareness #HIEsupport #advocacy #HIEAdvocacy
