Prediction for 2025 and beyond: sustainability + traceability will be an inseparable data strategy for global food companies, product carbon footprinting will be the common language, and companies will lean into a distributed approach to sharing information. With help from a robust network of partners like IBM and TraceGains - HowGood is the only solution to offer the common language (PCFs) and supply chain engagement automation tools to exceed sustainability and traceability data goals within a distributed system. Check out my most recent article about the importance of distributed data, developing a common language, and how to get started.

"If we create a collapse within the #foodsystem because of loss of #biodiversity or #soil health, but we've solved #carbon, we're still going to have massive problems feeding the planet." - Alexander Gillett, CEO at HowGood, on why making food systems more sustainable requires a holistic approach that goes beyond just tackling carbon emissions in the S&P Global #ESG Insider podcast https://lnkd.in/edx7D_qU

“This year, we saw the #food and #beverage industry double down on #AI as a productivity tool (aggregating and analyzing #supplychain data, overcoming logistical and manufacturing hurdles) while further exploring its capabilities to innovate and drive radical industry change (formulating new #sustainable recipes, finding more diverse #ingredients substitutions, creating new ingredients). I anticipate that AI will influence 90% of the food we consume within the next three years, whether it’s helping #retailers and #restaurants navigate the growing challenges of climate disclosure regulations or providing solutions for protecting global #biodiversity. To get to that point, the food and beverage industry must continue experimenting with AI to discover new areas where the technology can drive meaningful change within the way we consume food and protect our natural resources.” - Ethan Soloviev, Chief Innovation Officer at HowGood, on the evolving role of #artificialintelligence in transforming the #foodsystem in Keep Cool https://lnkd.in/edu8cUtc

“A large majority of that product’s impact can be measured upstream, earlier in the supply chain, with respect to how that ingredient was grown, how much land it took to grow it, the processing method, the transportation of those ingredients to the next part of the supply chain. That’s really hard to measure, that’s the Scope 3 part of the calculation, and that’s the part that we are really good at at HowGood. That's what we’re seeing food and beverage brands are really interested in wanting to get a better handle on and better visibility over, and influence their suppliers, their co-manufacturers, their upstream partners, to adopt better practices so that the company’s overall footprint is smaller. It’s not the flashy stuff that makes headlines. Even if you have a brand that says we’re slowing down or extending our targets to a later date or we’re thinking differently about packaging, that doesn’t take away from the fact that behind the scenes they have teams that are really invested in growing and sourcing better ingredients and looking at more energy-efficient ways of manufacturing upstream." - Ramya Ravishankar, General Counsel at HowGood in FoodNavigator https://lnkd.in/ei2NG6Rq
