Welcome. Since HRSD's inception, there has been one overriding mission -- to protect public health and the waters of Hampton Roads by treating wastewater effectively. HRSD returns treated effluent to nature in a way that will continue to nurture our water's delicate ecosystems. HRSD's workforce of scientists, engineers, water quality professionals and other staff know they must be sensitive to the needs of people and also be sensitive to the plants and animals who rely on our ability to protect their habitats. Our Promise: We promise to treat wastewater and recover natural resources to protect public health and the environment. While HRSD doesn’t provide curbside recycling services (we clean wastewater!💧), we understand the importance of recycling and continue to do our part to reduce our impact! Here are a few things we recycle♻️ at HRSD: 🧤 Gloves – We recycle used gloves (as long as they aren't too dirty!) to reduce waste and give them a second life. 🔋 Batteries – We collect and recycle batteries, keeping harmful chemicals out of landfills and ensuring safe disposal. 📦Provide recycling dumpsters to work centers– Our convenient dumpsters for cardboard, glass, aluminum, and some plastics make it easy to dispose of recyclables properly. ⚠️ Hazardous Waste Program – We take extra care to safely dispose of hazardous waste, preventing it from polluting our environment.
