HOWDY from “Cowdy” at Santa Clara City Town Hall We were thrilled to participate in celebrating Swiss Days downtown Santa Clara by placing “Cowdy” prominently in front of one of our most beautiful buildings, Santa Clara Town Hall. Santa Clara City wanted to match the look of a turn-of-the century school house previously on the site of their proposed city hall. The city council wanted a hand-pitched sandstone veneer, but including the veneer exceeded their budget or would otherwise require sacrificed building space. Quality synthetic alternatives posed the same problem. Hughes suggested the creation of an original manufactured block, which led to the invention of a new product: Pioneer Stone™. Pioneer Stone not only has the appearance of sandstone, it is load bearing, eliminating the need for a veneer. This invention saved the client over $900,000 and gave them the building they envisioned. Thank you Santa Clara City for your continued trust. We are honored to donate all of the proceeds from this event to @alzutah 🧡💜 The most recent data shows that: 💜38,000 people aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s in Utah. 💜9.9% of people aged 45 and older have subjective cognitive decline. 💜112,000 family caregivers bear the burden of the disease in Utah. 💜132 million hours of unpaid care provided by Alzheimer’s caregivers. 💜$2.4 billion is the value of the unpaid care. 💜$235 million is the cost of Alzheimer’s to the state Medicaid program. These numbers show that a public health approach is necessary to lessen the burden and enhance the quality of life for those living with cognitive impairment and their families.
