As ICAN Chair, Vered was involved in advancing legislation in California addressing hate and antisemitism. Her Anti-Hate Initiative provides tools and resources to the community to address hate incidents in collaboration with local organizations and leaders. She promotes projects encouraging communal engagement around thought-provoking and culturally meaningful books. Her current endeavor includes Kindness Week, a community event on February 9 that promotes the values of kindness and togetherness through various activities. The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) is aware of reports regarding a potential agreement between the State of Israel and the international terrorist organization Hamas concerning a temporary cessation of hostilities and the return of hostages. Our thoughts are with the hostages and their families during this critical time. We remain hopeful for the safe and swift return of all of the hostages and commend the State of Israel for its steadfast commitment to securing the lives of its citizens. We also recognize the tremendous sacrifice and bravery of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and its soldiers, who continue to put their lives on the line to protect Israel and its people. Their courage and dedication are a testament to Israel’s unwavering resolve. ICAN continues to call on U.S. leaders and the international community to support Israel's efforts and to hold Hamas and its patrons Qatar and Iran ultimately accountable for their actions, which have caused immense harm and suffering in the region and around the world.
