Talented women STEM professionals across a variety of industries who are interested in inspiring the next generation of girls to consider STEM careers. IF/THEN seeks to further advance women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by empowering current innovators and inspiring the next generation of pioneers. Rooted in a firm belief that there is no better time to highlight positive and successful female professional role models, IF/THEN is designed to activate a culture shift among young girls to open their eyes to STEM careers by: (1) funding and elevating women in STEM as role models, (2) convening cross-sector partners in entertainment, fashion, sports, business and academia to illuminate the importance of STEM everywhere, and (3) inspiring girls with better portrayals of women in STEM through media and learning experiences to pique their interest in STEM careers. Vision: We envision a future in which more women innovators are empowered to solve our greatest global challenges. The Museum of Science, Boston will be the new home of the IF/THEN® Collection, the world’s largest free digital library of photos and videos celebrating diverse, contemporary women in STEM. MOS was selected by IF/THEN® and Lyda Hill Philanthropies to acquire the collection of more than 5,000 assets and to carry on management of the platform. ASTC and the National Girls Collaborative Project have played critical roles in launching and promoting the Collection, as part of our participation in the IF/THEN® Initiative. https://lnkd.in/eveveguN

Today is a celebration much more meaningful than what we credit it for. Women and girls have continuously fought systematic, academic, and social sexism while making the most incredible contributions to science. With recent freezes on research funding and the abolishment of DEI initiatives, there is much uncertainty in our system, let alone scientific advancements. With this in mind, I implore you to recognize and uplift your fellow women in #STEM today. Don’t let it stop there either! Educators and STEM programs also need your support. Congratulations, Gillea Allison and team on two fantastic panels, and a keynote. Nearly 30% of the STEM workforce is comprised of women, and North Texas is leading the way in this shift toward equality between men and women in STEM careers. There is room and a need for everyone at the table, especially in the Aerospace field. I hope to see more men (literally) at the table at this event next year — we need allyship more than ever. When I was selected to be an IF/THEN Ambassador almost 6 years I had no idea what a ride it would be! The If/Then Science Ambassadors have been featured in museums, in textbooks 📚 , on trading cards, and on TV 📺 shows (Mission Unstopable has won 84 awards🏆, including a daytime Emmy! I’m on Season 1 Episode 5). Our statues have been displayed all across the country, including in the Smithsonian, on the National Mall, at the Perot Museum, and at MIT. We’ve served on panels at Comic-Con, created special edition science journals for kids, streamed in to classrooms around the world, been in science themed fashion shows, participated in STEAM fairs, and given thousands of community and classroom talks. We’re even featured in a cookbook! It’s hard to believe that we’ve had more than ✨8 BILLION IMPRESSIONS✨ so far, working to be the change we want to see in the world and encouraging young women to rise to meet today’s global challenges. But the journey isn’t over yet! Stay tuned for some exciting new partnerships, and check out our brand new sizzle reel and website (links in the comments). The honor of being an If/Then Ambassador has changed my life. I’ve been given the opportunity to share my love of science with milllions of people around the world and in the process I have found an unbreakable, unshakable sisterhood with the other Ambassadors. The IF/THEN® Collection has been gifted to the Museum of Science in Boston, MA! Lyda Hill Philanthropies and its initiative, IF/THEN® (that's us!) announced the gift on International Day of Women and Girls In Science. Museum of Science will maintain the platform as free resource for educators and non-commercial use. Valued at more than $20 million, the Collection provides access to more than 5,000 photos and videos showcasing a variety of STEM-related careers. It also includes: 💡segments from the award winning, live action series #MissionUnstoppable 💡in-classroom resources such as posters and activity sheets The National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) and the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) played critical roles to help launch and promote the Collection in partnership with IF/THEN®. Through these and other strategic distribution partnerships, content from the IF/THEN® Collection has reached an in-person audience of more than 15 million and has been used by more than 180 science museums across the country. The Museum has deep expertise in engaging audiences in-museum, in-school, and online, distributing content across various platforms. Through the Museum of Science, the IF/THEN ® Collection is projected to reach more than 80 million people over the next five years, expanding its global audience through digital-first distribution. “We are excited to manage, grow, and distribute its [the Collection's] content so that it continues to spark joy and a love for STEM in women and girls across the globe, helping fulfill the Museum’s vision of a world where science belongs to each of us for the good of all of us,” said Museum of Science President Tim Ritchie.
