This year, jurors reviewed all submissions from each city center and selected a top project from each region. Today, we’re showcasing the winners from Cincinnati/Dayton and Toledo. Stay tuned as we reveal the top projects from the remaining city centers! 🏅 Best of Cincinnati/Dayton Winner: Luminaut - The Aquifer at New Riff Distillery This project impressed the judges with its cozy, yet vibrant atmosphere. The space feels modern, yet grounded in rich textures and tones that evoke warmth. Strategic use of lighting enhances the space’s dynamic moods, creating a setting that’s both bold and inviting. 🏅 Best of Toledo Winner: The Collaborative - Ann & Thomas Hoaglin Wellness Center This innovative project redefines the clinic experience, aiming to address the growing mental health crisis in young people. ✨🏆 Spotlight on the Creative Install and Emerge Categories! We’re excited to showcase winners from the Creative Install and Emerge categories as part of the IIDA Ohio Kentucky Chapter Design Awards! These categories highlight the importance of our industry members and the creativity of emerging student designers. 🛠️ Creative Install Category 🏅 Winner: King Business Interiors - St. Stephen's Episcopal Church This project tells a compelling story through a beautiful graphic maze, designed with accessible, easy-to-install materials. The judges were impressed by how this installation creates a powerful, shared experience for the community. It’s a stunning example of design that unites people in a meaningful way. 🌟 Emerge Category 🏅 Winner: Celia Chamberlain from Kent State University We received nearly 20 submissions from students across our states, showcasing the future of design. A special thank you to our jury, Kelly Spies, NCIDQ, IIDA (Stengel Hill Architecture), Maria Rosmarin, IIDA, AIA, NCIDQ (MSA Design), and Stephanie Shook, NCIDQ, IIDA, WELL AP (HBM Architects LLC), for their thoughtful review of these incredible student projects. With intriguing architectural features, a mix of textures, and an industrial-yet-warm aesthetic, it’s a space designed to engage and foster innovation. The judges were impressed by how this space inspires curiosity and wonder for visitors of all ages. 👏 🎖️ Honorable Mention: DLR Group – Cornell Complex As the new home for the Spiva Center for the Arts and Connect2Culture, this project draws inspiration from Joplin’s natural lead and zinc formations. The interplay of mass and void, paired with elegant finishes, creates a timeless backdrop for art in all forms.
