Discussing Technology in Education at Dzaleka Refugee Camp We were honored to participate in an event organized by Imagine Worldwide, where visitors and representatives from Fountain of Hope Afirca and other community schools came together to discuss Technology in Education and its challenges within the Dzaleka refugee camp and the surrounding villages. The dialogue focused on improving access to education and exploring the positive impact of tablet programs on refugee children. It was inspiring to exchange ideas and collaborate with other organizations dedicated to this important cause. The Imagine Worldwide team also toured our education facilities l and other projects, witnessing firsthand the transformative work being done to empower the lives of refugee and host communities in Malawi. A huge thank you to @ImagineWorldWide for facilitating this incredible opportunity and for their continued support in bringing education to those in need. Together, we are creating a brighter future for the children of Dzaleka refugee camp and fostering hope through learning. #FountainOfHopeAfrica #DzalekaRefugeeCamp #EducationForAll #TabletPrograms #BuildingABrighterFuture #CollaborationForChange @imagineworldwideliteracy

The Building Education Foundations through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) program tablet session at St. Joseph Primary School in Zomba District is seeing high levels of student engagement. Learners are actively enhancing their numeracy and reading skills through the use of tablets, with teachers providing support when students encounter technical challenges. BEFIT is an Education Technology (EdTech) program implemented by the Ministry of Education through the Directorate of Open Distance and E-learning (DoDEL) and the Directorate of Basic Education (DBE). The program aims to enable learners in all public primary schools in Malawi—approximately 6,000 schools—to access tablet-based learning, specifically targeting students in Standards 1 to 4. The primary objective of the BEFIT program is to improve literacy and numeracy skills among primary school learners.

During a recent visit to schools implementing the BEFIT EdTech program, I had the opportunity to meet with community stakeholders and hear firsthand about the program's impact. One parent shared something that truly stood out to me: beyond improving literacy and numeracy skills, BEFIT is introducing digital literacy to learners in remote areas—some of whom have never seen or touched a smartphone, let alone a tablet. This conversation made me realize that the BEFIT program is doing more than improve the learners literacy and numeracy skills; it’s helping bridge the digital divide for young learners, a significant step forward for the future of our country. I look forward to a day when these little ones will come out as giants in tech. I look forward to seeing more William Kamkwamba's coming out of this land. ”A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation” #BEFIT #EdTech #DigitalLiteracy #BridgingTheDivide
