About us

The Independence Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators was founded in 1992 and consists of legal management professionals from suburban Philadelphia and surrounding counties including Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, and Schuylkill. Our ALA chapter has 130+ members, including representatives from law firms of varying sizes and encompassing many areas of practice. We provide seminars, monthly brown bag meetings, events, an annual vendor expo, and more in our ongoing efforts to offer the highest caliber of information and education to our membership. The Independence Chapter often partners with the Philadelphia Chapter and the First State Chapter (DE) to provide broader networking opportunities. The ALA was founded in 1971. ALA has nearly 9,000 members worldwide, representing more than 30 countries. ALA's goals are: 1) Develop and deliver programs and products that will provide high-quality, competency-based education to members of the legal management team; 2) Improve and strengthen the flow of information to and from the members; 3) Enhance the services and benefits available to members; 4) Increase the visibility and credibility of the Association of Legal Administrators and its members in the legal community through effective marketing and communications, and through partnering efforts with the bar and other law-related associations; 5) Retain and recruit members from all components of the legal management team; 6) Maintain the Association's strong economic base; 7) Increase diversity in the Association, in the legal management community and in all legal service organizations; 8) Promote and continue an organizational structure which clearly and effectively allocates the policy and operational roles and responsibilities of volunteers and staff through Governance Policies that ensure that organizational resources are to achieve the Association's Mission and Goals.
