The City of Indianapolis will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during their annual holiday observance event on January 17th, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the City County Building's Beurt A. Servaas Public Assembly Room. This year, we are thrilled to have Pastor Jeffery A. Johnson, Sr., of Eastern Star Church join us as our Keynote Speaker. In 1988, Pastor Johnson began leading Eastern Star Church, which has grown to serve over 17,000 members across multiple campuses. The 2025 City of Indianapolis Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Observance is free and open to the public, and there is no RSVP required. City of Indianapolis announces next chapter of demolition at Towne and Terrace INDIANAPOLIS – Today, Mayor Joe Hogsett joined State Senator La Keisha Jackson, City-County Councilor Rena Allen and community leader Liz Durden to mark another milestone in the City's commitment to addressing public safety challenges at the Towne and Terrace townhome complex. Starting this month, the City will demolish eight vacant buildings at the complex through a coordinated multi-agency effort, marking the next phase in the years-long process to address longstanding health and safety issues at the complex.
