We've said it once and we'll say it again. A majority of gravity sewer are not obstructed! Of the 360,000 measurements taken this year, 71% scored "GOOD"! For those who saw yesterdays post, that translates to 56.8 million feet of gravity sewer lines that do not need to be cleaned. Condition-based maintenance at its best! Here is the the full breakdown: Good: 71% Fair: 16% Poor: 7% Blocked: 6% #yearinreview #smartsewers #maintenancematters #acousticinspection #conditionbasedmaintenance

Manufacturer of the award winning acoustic sewer inspection technology, the SL-RAT, or Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool
About us
InfoSense, Inc. is the manufacturer of the Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool, or SL-RAT®, an award-winning acoustic inspection technology used to screen for blockages in small diameter gravity sewers. Save time. Save water. Save money. Stop cleaning clean pipe and focus collections maintenance resources with the SL-RAT® (Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool). Over 230 utilities around the world are already using our award-winning acoustic technology to screen 6”-18” gravity-fed sewers for blockages. Results from over 90 million feet of screening show that 65-80% of pipes in the average utility do not need to be cleaned. This allows SL-RAT® users to prioritize cleaning resources to areas that need it the most. Thus reducing overflows and improving cleaning effectiveness. With the capability to assess approximately 2 to 4 miles per day at 1/10th-1/20th the cost of cleaning or CCTV, acoustic inspection can be a great preliminary screening tool that generates substantial cost savings. The highly-portable SL-RAT requires no flow contact and is GPS enabled. Data can be downloaded, analyzed, visualized and exported using the accompanying cloud-based Sewer Line Data OrGanizer or SL-DOG® software. A standard practice for using acoustic technology can be found in the ASTM Guide (F3220-17, Standard Practice for Prioritizing Sewer Pipe Cleaning Operations by Using Transmissive Acoustic Inspection).

Let's start with a big number...80,000,000! This year, SL-RAT units around the world have taken over 80 million linear feet of gravity sewer data, which is a new record! This is twice the diameter of the earth, or approximately 29 million SL-RAT receivers laid end to end. #yearinreview #smartsewers #maintenancematters #acousticinspection #conditionbasedmaintenance

SL-RAT in Action! Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority has consistently set the standard for proactive maintenance strategies. Always happy to hear the SL-RAT singing through their 1,400 miles of gravity sewers! 😁
Of course, you might think acoustic inspection crews just listen to pipes all day... Meet Jacob, a utility worker from LRWRA's collection system maintenance team! He's on a two-man crew that uses specialized sound wave technology to inspect Little Rock's 1,400 miles of sewer lines, detecting potential blockages before they become problems. It's just one way we use innovative technology to serve our community. From rough terrain to debris, they tackle it all to keep our collection system flowing smoothly. #LRWRA #OfCourse #Innovation #UtilityMaintenance

Some say it is magic...some say it is the expert balancing skills of our service crew! Does anyone want to take a guess on how this manhole lid is standing up? Don't worry, the SL-RAT in the picture is not in any danger! 😄 #smartsewers #maintenancematters #acousticinspection #conditionbasedmaintenance

Why do we advocate for condition-based maintenance? Simply put, because it’s effective! Think of it this way: Would a hotel clean every room whether or not it had been occupied the night before? Similarly, why should an operator clean every pipe without knowing if it's actually blocked? Condition-based maintenance is the fastest and most cost-efficient approach to sanitary sewer upkeep—it just makes sense! #smartsewers #maintenancematters #acousticinspection #conditionbasedmaintenance
