Take a few minutes to check out what our CEO has been up to "Around the Block." From supporting future engineers and visiting with crews to sharing wisdom with water professionals, there's a lot to catch up on!
🌟Around the Block: February Highlights🌟 As the CEO of Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority, my role extends far beyond the walls of my office. Here are a few highlights from my excursions in February. 1. ENGINEERS WEEK: Our engineers and I kicked off Engineers Week (Feb. 16–22) at Philander Smith University, meeting with a group of enthusiastic college students and potential water workforce professionals. The interactions with these scholars were invigorating, and their enthusiasm & insightful questions were inspiring.✨ The future is indeed bright! 2. VISITING THE CREWS: I always enjoy learning from LRWRA’s experienced team members. During a recent ride-along with our Safety team lead, Sherree Bynum, I visited a jobsite where crew members were finishing a sewer pipe replacement project🛠️. Our hard-working employees exemplified several of our core values including excellence, teamwork, & safety. 3. TIPS FROM THE TOP: LRWRA hosted young water professionals who had the opportunity to hear leadership insights from experienced local water professionals. Leaders from ADEQ, Crist Engineers, Inc., & LRWRA shared great insights, and even as a “seasoned” professional, I left with some useful nuggets.💡 Remember, collective efforts create ripples of positive impact. Until next month’s “Around the Block” update!🌎 #CEO #Leadership #CommunityEngagement #WaterProfessionals

Check out an incredible Arkansas Water YP Network event! Yesterday, early career water and wastewater professionals gathered at our office to gain valuable insights at the "Tips from the Top" panel. Industry leaders Craig Johnson, Stacie Wassell, and our own J. Ryan Benefield shared practical tips for navigating early career challenges in our sector. Special thanks to Garver for providing lunch and to all attendees who participated in the engaging discussion. These connections help build a more resilient and innovative water industry in Arkansas.

Meet Alexandria, our newest communications specialist! She got her start at the utility in 2019 as a communications intern before becoming our full-time communications assistant. You may see her often around town volunteering with the utility, snapping pictures of our team, and passing out Can the Grease kits at community events. We are excited to congratulate her on her new role!

What better way to kick off Engineers Week than sharing our passion with future engineers? Today, our team had the incredible opportunity to talk water infrastructure with the bright minds at Philander Smith University. From treatment processes to career paths in water, these students asked questions that reminded us why we fell in love with engineering in the first place. A special thank you to our incredible engineers, Cary Beth Lipscomb, P.E., Terrian Tyler, and Kira Wise, for leading this charge! To all engineers out there moving our world forward, happy #EWeek2025!
