Last month, The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation contacted Governor Maura Healey’s office asking that Injury Prevention Day be recognized in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Governor Healey’s office signed a proclamation declaring November 18th as Injury Prevention Day to raise awareness on best practices to prevent injuries and make our communities safer! #injuryprevention

Our Equity Advisory Committee members, Dr. Sadiqa Kendi and Dr. Joseph Wright, were proud to present at the 29th Annual Conference of the Injury Free Coalition for Kids! This year’s conference, "Forging New Frontiers 2024: Engineering for Equity," brought together injury prevention experts from across the country to explore innovative strategies for reducing childhood injuries and creating healthier communities. We’re proud to have these leaders guiding our work and advancing equity in the field of injury prevention.

I will introduce National Injury Prevention Day at the 17th Annual PRevention of Overdoses and Treatment Errors in Children Taskforce (PROTECT) Initiative Meeting. Since we all enjoyed looking at maps light up red or blue yesterday, I wanted to share our map of #GREEN. As of today, the National Injury Prevention Day (NIPD) map of activities shows 37 cities shining a green light and 47 injury prevention education events. But we want to turn the whole USA map #GREEN.
