  • Last Thursday, we gathered an incredible group of experts, industry leaders, and researchers for an engaging discussion on agriculture, climate data, and monetization opportunities at our latest Innovation After Hours event. The evening kicked off with Dr. Sam Malloy, CO-WY Engine’s Director of Research & Development, providing an overview of the ASCEND framework (Advanced Sensing and Computation for Environmental Decision-making) and its role in agriculture and climate resilience. We then heard from Dr. Corinne Walsh (Soil Carbon Solutions Center, Colorado State University ), Dr. Sara Place, AgNext at Colorado State University), and Dr. Richard Magid (Colorado State University)—each presenting insights into the latest advancements in climate-smart agriculture, data-driven solutions, and the challenges of scaling impact. The heart of the event was our fireside chat, moderated by Dr. Richard Magid, where our panelists tackled big questions, including: 🔹 How much impact (climate and economic) can data-driven strategies make? 🔹 What are the current gaps and weaknesses in data-driven agriculture, and what are researchers doing to address them?  🔹 What are the biggest barriers—economic, technological, or regulatory—to scaling climate-smart agricultural practices? The discussion was dynamic, addressing economic, technological, and regulatory challenges while emphasizing the opportunities for innovation and collaboration. We wrapped up with networking and deeper conversations, reinforcing the importance of partnerships in driving meaningful change. A huge thank you to our panelists and attendees for making this event a success!

  • Breaking Barriers in MedTech: A Founder’s Perspective We spoke with Jessica Queen, APRN, CEO of OMEDUS, about how the Innosphere Life Sciences Accelerator helped shape her journey as a founder in the competitive medtech industry. OMEDUS is at the forefront of wireless vitals monitoring and automated triage, delivering cutting-edge solutions to improve patient outcomes in mass casualty events, overcrowded emergency rooms, and combat zones. “Entering medtech is a bold endeavor, but as a female entrepreneur, it comes with additional challenges. One thing that stood out about Innosphere is that they always made it feel like a level playing field. • We spoke with Blake J. Hyde, M.D., F.A.C.S., CEO of Decorum Medical Innovations and a recent graduate of the Innosphere Life Sciences Accelerator, about how the program helped shape his company’s path. Decorum Medical is rethinking tracheostomy care, a field where innovation has lagged despite critical patient and provider needs. As Dr. Hyde puts it, “Current tracheostomy care is broken. These patients—and those who care for them—deserve better.” Through the Innosphere Life Sciences Accelerator, Decorum Medical was able to: ✅ Develop a fully realized business plan ✅ Refine its go-to-market strategy ✅ Identify key fundraising avenues ✅ Build strategic partnerships with industry leaders “Most startups are strapped for cash, but the value we’ve gained from Innosphere has been exponential. The mentorship, resources, and connections have had an outsized return on investment—without requiring us to give up any equity.” A major advantage of the program is the opportunity to work alongside industry veterans who guide founders through the complexities of commercialization. “Many of us come from scientific and technical backgrounds, and Innosphere bridges the gap between science and business, providing critical expertise to bring innovations to market.” 🚀 Applications for the next cohort of the Innosphere Life Sciences Accelerator are now open! We asked Elizabeth ( Izi ) Stoll, CEO of Numiera Therapeutics, this question. As a preclinical-stage pharmaceutical company, Numiera is focused on developing small-molecule therapies for oncology, with the goal of improving patient outcomes for malignant brain tumors. Through Innosphere’s Life Sciences Incubator, Numeria gained access to: ✔ A Complete Shift in Thinking – Transitioning from scientist to business leader, learning what it takes to run a pharmaceutical company. ✔ Business Model Development – Structuring a viable model for long-term success in the life sciences industry. ✔ Defining a Value Proposition – Clearly articulating how Numiera's therapies fit into the market and differentiate from existing treatments. ✔ Investor Readiness – Learning how to attract and engage the right investors for a high-growth biotech startup. ✔ Grant Strategy & Support – Identifying the right funding opportunities and receiving guidance on the grant-writing process. ✔ Understanding FDA Clearance for Clinical Trials – Navigating regulatory requirements, preparing for preclinical and clinical studies, and ensuring a clear path to FDA approval. For early-stage life sciences companies, having the right framework, mentorship, and connections can make all the difference in accelerating commercialization and securing funding. Applications are now open for Innosphere’s 2025 Life Sciences Accelerator Cohort. If you’re building the next breakthrough in life sciences, we encourage you to apply. 📩 Learn more and apply today.
