Last Thursday, we gathered an incredible group of experts, industry leaders, and researchers for an engaging discussion on agriculture, climate data, and monetization opportunities at our latest Innovation After Hours event. The evening kicked off with Dr. Sam Malloy, CO-WY Engine’s Director of Research & Development, providing an overview of the ASCEND framework (Advanced Sensing and Computation for Environmental Decision-making) and its role in agriculture and climate resilience. We then heard from Dr. Corinne Walsh (Soil Carbon Solutions Center, Colorado State University ), Dr. Sara Place, AgNext at Colorado State University), and Dr. Richard Magid (Colorado State University)—each presenting insights into the latest advancements in climate-smart agriculture, data-driven solutions, and the challenges of scaling impact. The heart of the event was our fireside chat, moderated by Dr. Richard Magid, where our panelists tackled big questions, including: 🔹 How much impact (climate and economic) can data-driven strategies make? 🔹 What are the current gaps and weaknesses in data-driven agriculture, and what are researchers doing to address them? 🔹 What are the biggest barriers—economic, technological, or regulatory—to scaling climate-smart agricultural practices? The discussion was dynamic, addressing economic, technological, and regulatory challenges while emphasizing the opportunities for innovation and collaboration. We wrapped up with networking and deeper conversations, reinforcing the importance of partnerships in driving meaningful change. A huge thank you to our panelists and attendees for making this event a success!
