Learning Mandarin for everyday use Do you know that Mandarin has been classified as a “super-hard language” for native English speakers to learn? According to a classification done by the US Foreign Services Institute, it takes a learner approximately 2200 class hours to pick up Mandarin vis-à-vis 900 class hours for Malay, or 1100 class hours for Tamil. With Mandarin seemingly taking much more time and effort to master, some may ask if learning Mandarin is worth it? And if so, how can they best see the fruition of their own hard labour within a foreseeable time frame? At Inochi Learners, we understand that while mastery of the Chinese language can’t be attained overnight, progress can be built bit-by-bit over time. In our Conversational Chinese course that has been specially curated for first-time learners, our curriculum mirrors closely to real-life conversations that enable learners to instantly apply key words and phrases learnt in class to their daily living. Some of these conversations include how to say greetings, making purchases, asking for directions etc. Slots are available for our Conversational Chinese course. Do drop us a message if you would like to find out more about the course.

汉语拼音 (Han Yu Pin Yin)- The first step to learning Mandarin Adopted in 1979, 汉语拼音(Han Yu Pin Yin) is the romanised system for 汉字(Chinese Characters), and over the years, has helped Mandarin learners to read and recognise Chinese characters more effectively. Do you know while Han Yu Pin Yin helps to bridge the learning gap of navigating through an otherwise complex and different writing system that native English speakers are used to, understanding the annotations and pronouncing Han Yu Pin Yin accurately can be a challenge to first-time learners learning the language. At Inochi Learners’ Conversational Chinese course, we help our learners to overcome this hurdle by: 1. Explaining the basic rules of Han Yu Pin Yin 2. Demonstrating how to pronounce the various initials, finals and tones that make up the Han Yu Pin Yin 3. Giving our learners a safe space to practice their pronunciation We have ongoing trial classes for the Conversational Chinese course that are available for sign-ups. Please drop us a message if you are keen to find out more.
