Connecting returning citizens and service providers to overcome the isolation & invisibility of reentry

About us

650,000 people are released from prisons every year, and most service providers struggle to connect easily and effectively with them. Our pioneering website works like a dating site for reentry. Inmates and returning citizens can search, find relevant matches, and directly message service providers. And service providers find relevant matches and reach out personally and proactively to inmates on their tablets and returning citizens on their smartphones. The Inside Out Network makes it easy to connect so you can focus on changing more lives for the better.

  • As we head into the holiday week, we wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We hope that you have a wonderful season with your loved ones. While many of us get to enjoy time spent with those we care about most, the holidays can often be a challenging time for those in prison. May we send prayers and positive thoughts to those who are spending this holiday season away from their family and friends due to incarceration. If you want to support those who are impacted by incarceration during this time, here are a couple of ways to do so: Hope Packs gifted to those in jails (in 17 states and 20 countries, including Pima County Jail in Tucson, AZ): https://lnkd.in/gkyN6iXa Angel Tree Christmas- Prison Fellowship (gifting presents to children on behalf of their parents who are incarcerated): https://lnkd.in/gQdBNHkZ

  • We had two visits this week, one to Phoenix West- Second Chance Center and another to New Freedom. As always, both were a wonderful opportunity to connect with returning citizens, thank you both for having us! And to make these visits a bit unique- Maddi, our director of operations, is also an adjunct professor at ASU for the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She had 2 different students shadow her so that they could get some real-life experience for their Barrett Honors College Enrichment Contracts. This was a great opportunity to expose these students to reentry work. (One student preferred not to have their photo shared.)

  • Color Me Yellow- Inside Out Network Fundraising Campaign- Year 2! First off, to all of those who previously donated, we wanted to thank you again for your generous financial support for the Inside Out Network's Color Me Yellow campaign last year. Because of last year's successful campaign, we were able to retool our online platform and shift our work to a higher gear. This year’s campaign is all about pressing on the accelerator and doubling our impact. Our goals for the coming year are to successfully launch direct access between men and women leaving prison and community service providers (a) on ViaPath tablets in Oregon, Illinois, and Mississippi, (b) on prison library computers in Arizona, and (c) by registering the next 50 service providers in Oregon. Due to the funding that is needed to pursue these exciting opportunities for growth, we have officially launched our second "Color Me Yellow" campaign. If you are able to make a tax-deductible contribution to ION (501 c 3) now, your gift will be doubled! Several generous friends of ION have come forward with matching challenge gifts in the amount of $20,000; we hope to raise a minimum of $70,000 before the end of the year to fuel our vision. So for this Giving Tuesday (December 3rd), please consider donating- you can help change the lives of thousands of those leaving incarceration. DONATE NOW: https://lnkd.in/gkiyk_Xd. *You can also mail a check to our address or donate stock. Please reach out for more information.* Please share with your family and friends too. Thank you for your support! #GivingTuesday2024 #Nonprofit #CriminalJustice #reentry #CriminalJusticeReform #givingback #communitysupport

  • Earlier today we had the opportunity to visit Rast Unit at Lewis Prison where we were able to share information about ION with individuals who are releasing within the next year. This unit houses men who are of the highest custody (levels 4 and 5) and who have typically been away for long periods of time, so we are grateful for the opportunity to connect with them prior to their release and offer reentry support. As a reminder, the Inside Out Network has no restrictions, our platform is available to anyone regardless of conviction. To that note, we have providers registered who have no restrictions as well. A huge thank you to the staff at Rast for coordinating our visit. And a shoutout to parole (who we shared the time with) for the incredible work they are doing to offer support to those who are releasing on community supervision.

I am so grateful for being awarded an RSAT challenge coin, thank you Leslie Baxley for your continued support! You have built an incredible program and I am honored to be recognized as an ally in your work. Thank you for being such an awesome friend and colleague! RSAT is a Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program that takes place inside of prisons here in AZ. This wonderful program focuses on cognitive behavioral treatment for high-risk/high-needs individuals. I have the privilege of getting to go inside (on behalf of the Inside Out Network (ION)) to present to the participants on a quarterly basis. George Nolan- congrats to you too! Please watch the video below to see how lives have been changed as a result of RSAT. https://lnkd.in/e2ufk5nf
