Another first for Integrity Insitu as we took the Intelligent Packer to nearly 13,000 psi differential today. The heavy lifting is over! Or has it just begun? Integrity Insitu has successfully performed multiple comparison tests between the DFIT (mini-frac) and Intelligent Packer processes, as we've shared over several LinkedIn posts. This comparison testing began in earnest when Max Teitel brought me a printout of our Intelligent Packer data in a pressure vs. time format, confirming the unmistakable signature of the build-up and fall-off cycle indicative of fracture reopening during DFIT testing. DFIT testing requires fluid injection. That requires isolating the zone of interest, which requires packers. The sealing pressure of the packers is dependent on several factors such as wellbore size, temperature, and most critically, the differential pressure expected during injection. That differential pressure can be a show stopper, preventing you from measuring the minimum principal stress (Shmin). So, what's the alternative? You could estimate stress from another well that's miles away, OR you could capture Shmin WITHOUT injection—thereby avoiding the limitations of differential pressure ratings AND the time it can take for falloff cycles to flow back. Below are actual injection/falloff cycles from our lab mini-frac test, alongside load/unload cycles from our Intelligent Packer in the same configuration, both shown as pressure vs. time traces. Can you tell which is which? After watching the physical process and now seeing the data, are you ready to try something different? No injection, just two hours per zone, deployable by wireline or pipe, in vertical or horizontal wells. Rated for bottomhole temperatures up to 165 C and hydrostatic pressures up to 138 MPa. Yesterday's mini-frac testing was a bit wetter than last week but the net effect was the same, cracked concrete and the signature pressure vs time response. Our sample cracked along the bottom and the top of the body, as shown by this video of the several injection and falloff cycles involved in DFIT testing.
