About us
The Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association is an organization of public sector labor relations professionals charged with representing management with respect to collective bargaining and labor relations matters. The Association serves as a resource and advocate, providing top-quality training, information, networking opportunities, and support for legislative initiatives that further management’s interests in effective labor relations. IPELRA's foundation is built on four pillars: Premier Training, Membership Resources, Interactive Networking, and Legislative Insight. While there are many quality organizations that serve human resources professionals, IPELRA is the only one in Illinois that focuses primarily on public sector collective bargaining and labor relations. The Association provides year-round, cost-effective training from experts in the field of collective bargaining and labor relations, and IPELRA has had a seat at the table when legislation is being drafted that affects all of its members. Membership affords access to top-quality newsletters with important and timely information concerning the field, recent arbitration awards, and settlements, impending legislation, etc.

🌟 Celebrating Success! On Friday our training committee held a second "Essential Skills for Supervisors" training, hosted by the Village of Palatine. It was a fantastic opportunity to empower supervisors with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in their roles. This full-day course helps provide public sector supervisors with comprehensive training on crucial topics such as employment law, hiring and recruiting, performance management, and effective communication. We're incredibly grateful to the training committee and the panel of #humanresources and #publicsector experts who shared their invaluable insights. As we reflect on the success of this training, we're curious to hear from our you: 💭 What do you believe are the most essential skills for supervisors in today's public sector landscape? Share your thoughts and insights in the comments below! #IPELRA #supervisorytraining #professionaldevelopment

Insightful presentations & discussions at today’s Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association “AI in Human Resources' seminar hosted by the Village of Schaumburg. The seminar served as a beacon of innovation and a glimpse into the future of human resources & labor practices. 🚀🤖 Our expert speakers included: Researcher Roman Eng blew our minds with the capabilities and the future of AI. Roman advised attendees to “be skeptical” of AI. Eric DeChant walked us through the good, the bad and the ugly of AI in the workplace, including use of AI in hr and labor relations and the ethical considerations of such use. Clark Baird Smith LLP’s Benjamin and Mysi spoke to the legal implications of AI, including federal, state regulations and best practices for labor negotiations. Kudos to the #IPELRA Training Committee for bringing such valuable and forward thinking material to our members! 👏🏻 For those who attended- tell us what was your biggest takeaway? 💬📣
