Where legal expertise meets Islamic scholarship.
About us
Living a God-centric life is now easier with the Islamic Law Institute. We are driven by the belief that God does not place on us any responsibility that we cannot bear, be it God’s commandments about inheritance (4:11-12), dispute resolution (4:59-60), or marriage and divorce (65:1-7). By linking Islamic scholarship with American legal expertise, we don’t just make it bearable. We make it exciting. Here's how. First, our interactive workshops teach the ummah how to harness the U.S. legal system to enforce your Islamic obligations. Whether it be understanding how prenuptial agreements can enforce your nikkah contracts, how will or trust-based estate plans enforce your family's inheritance rights, or how to resolve disputes through mandatory arbitration clauses. Second, our consultations help ensure your legal arrangements are within the boundaries of God’s commandments. In other words, let us scholar-splain to your attorney, or give you personal feedback. Third, we connect you with a network of attorneys that can see your legal obligations through to the end. Bismillah.

A long time in the making, we are excited to announce our first iteration of The Marriage Workshop by the Islamic Law Institute 📌 Join us to explore Islamic and state legal obligations for marriage, including marital agreements, nikah contracts, and preventing nasty separations. 📑 Learn how to nurture a healthy, Islamic marital bond and create a rough draft of a marital agreement that reflects that vision. 🙋 Who should attend? This workshop has been crafted for married and not-yet married folks. And if you have sworn off marriage completely (though we advise against that), join us anyways so we can help prepare you to properly counsel your friends and families with the right tools for a God-centric marriage.
