How can the umma facilitate a nuanced evaluation and negotiation of the varying interests, commitments, and solidarities in the Muslim world? How can we envision successful political models that recognize and skillfully manage the emergence of discursive differentiations in a modern political context? In other words, knowing that the differences among Muslims, including diversity of views, beliefs, and customs, cannot be eliminated, how can we manage them in the interest of Muslim unity and the flourishing of Islam?

Statelessness in Islamic law should also be discussed to understand refugee laws. Sana Pirzada in conversation with Advocate Tahera Hasan. This webinar provides an insight into the lives of stateless children in Pakistan and the impact of the organisation within the community
It was a true pleasure to converse with the noble, humble, and dynamic Advocate Tahera Hasan about her inspiring work through the Imkaan Welfare Organization on behalf of VLA Virtual Legal Advisory. Tahera has made remarkable contributions to the community, particularly in advocating for stateless children by providing them with education and opportunities. She has also been a strong proponent of mental health services, courageously addressing societal stigma and overcoming numerous challenges to uphold fundamental rights. This enlightening session shed light on critical issues faced by stateless children in Pakistan and the legal framework governing this area. For those who wish to gain deeper insight, I encourage you to listen to Advocate Tahera’s compelling discussion and visit Imkaan Welfare to learn more about their impactful initiatives. https://lnkd.in/dYJGKqrM

book review of ‘Teaching International Law’ edited by Peter Hilpold and Giuseppe Nesi. The book is a wonderful read, especially for international law academics. The critique is that it lacks the perspective of the Global South and Islamic law. https://lnkd.in/eqwCWUai
