Updates

  • As we wrap up a great year of advancing young people's sexual and reproductive health rights and justice (SRHRJ), we want to take a moment to pause and reflect on our achievements, lessons, and celebrations gained throughout the year.   This year, IYAFP amplified its presence on the global stage through active participation in major conferences and advocacy campaigns like ICPD+30, UNGA79, the Summit of the Future, and the World Health Summit.   Our updated website has been a powerful tool and platform for young advocates to share their experiences and amplify local and global SRHR stories around the globe. We also promoted digital campaigns and resources, including the piloting of a new training toolkit, Youth Declaration on Creating Healthier Societies together with WHO, and showcasing youth-led innovations, which have enabled broader outreach and engagement.   We also strengthened our relationship with partner organizations and members, ensuring that youth-driven initiatives and projects are being carried out to address sexual and reproductive health issues.   As we move into 2025, IYAFP remains committed to deepening its impact. With a stronger membership base, strategic partnerships, and innovative projects, we’re building a future where young people lead the charge for equitable SRHRJ globally.    Thank you to everyone for your continued support! Together, we are shaping a brighter and more equitable future.   We will close from the 25th of December 2024 to the 6th of January 2024.   #MerryChristmas #HappyHolidays #SRHRJ

✨ Great news for IYAFP Madagascar! ✨ we are excited to share that our team is part of the 2024 cohort of the +1 Health program! 🚀 We have officially kicked off a new project that will run over the next 12 months. This past weekend, we launched our Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Parents’ School initiative in Antananarivo. This is just the beginning, as other regions will soon follow. Through this project, we aim to promote better sexual and reproductive health for young people while strengthening the role of parents and communities. Together, we’re building a brighter and more inclusive future for Madagascar. 🌍✨ #Leadership #SRHR #Madagascar #ReproductiveHealth #IYAF

  • In Madagascar, issues surrounding young people’s sexual and reproductive health are critical! The country has one of the highest rates of early pregnancies globally (ranked 13th), and nearly two out of five girls marry before the age of 18, especially in rural areas. Complications from early pregnancies are the second leading cause of death among girls aged 15 to 19, highlighting the urgent need for prevention and tailored education. When young people are educated, they can stand for their rights against their sexual and reproductive health. • Today, we celebrate our member in Madagascar, Faniry Ramparaoelina for her and her team's outstanding work in promoting comprehensive sexuality education #CSE and sexual and reproductive health #SRH across communities. These efforts play a critical role in bridging the SRHR gap and address gender-based violence (GBV) by equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources to make informed decisions, challenge harmful norms, and advocate for respect and equality. As we mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we honor their dedication to creating safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities in Madagascar, fostering a future where everyone can thrive. #IYAFPMadagascar #16DaysOfActivism

As the climate crisis continues to disrupt global health systems, its impact on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is often overlooked. Yet, women, young people, and marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by these intersecting challenges. During climate-related disasters, access to SRHR services becomes even more critical, but these needs are often sidelined. This event will address the urgent need for the intersection of SRHR and climate justice. Join us as we bring together young advocates, human rights defenders, and key stakeholders to push for comprehensive, integrated policies that recognize the essential link between climate action at the Summit of the Future, a defining event that will shape the future of the next generation. #SummitofTheFuture #ClimateJustice #SRHR #IYAFP
