With 650 million women married as children, efforts to support child brides lag behind prevention. Our review finds most interventions focus narrowly on sexual and reproductive health, neglecting mental health, education, and economic empowerment. It's time to expand support for the health and well-being of child brides. Authors: Shatha Elnakib, Ahmed K. Ali, Kate Mieth, MPH, Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli Read more here:

"This is not a moment to exploit asylum policies. This is not a moment to sort of weaponize this critical point in time and immediately start discussing returns for Syrians, especially if they’re not this trifecta (in line with UNHCR conditions): voluntary, safe, and dignified for people. Many have nothing to come back to with homes destroyed and public infrastructure decimated across much of the country in the sectors of health, education, and housing" says Amany Qaddour, associate faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health, who did an interview with Today, Explained in Vox news discussing refugee returns to Syria following the fall of the Assad regime after 50+ years of dictatorship. She emphasizes this to host countries—including the 17 that have already suspended their asylum applications for Syrians. Her interview follows Omar Alshogre's chilling account of his detainment in multiple prisons, including the infamous Saydnaya Prison. Have a listen or read here:
