🚀 ACT Policy Team Leads Major Climate Wins Across the Northeast 🌍 Big news: Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has signed two transformative bills into law—the Clean Energy Omnibus and the Mass Leads Act—marking a major victory for climate advocates and the Commonwealth’s clean energy future. Earlier this year, the passage of these bills seemed unlikely after the formal legislative session ended in July. But ACT and our partners took action, urging the legislature to reconvene in special formal sessions. The result? Groundbreaking legislation that advances the climate transition and secures Massachusetts’ role as a leader in the global climate economy. Read more in this detailed blog from our Policy Team: https://lnkd.in/eV6_-qzZ This is a testament to the power of collective advocacy and a clear message: climate solutions cannot wait. Formerly NECEC, ACT is the premier voice of businesses building a world-class clean energy hub in the Northeast.
About us
ACT leads the just, equitable and rapid transition to a clean energy future and diverse climate economy. ACT is the Alliance for Climate Transition and ACT Institute. ACT helps clean energy companies start, scale and succeed with our unique business, innovation and policy leadership. We bring together business leaders and key stakeholders to engage in influential policy discussions and business initiatives while building connections that propel the clean energy industry forward. Our results-oriented team is highly skilled at turning a clear vision into reality and effectively influencing policy to build a world-class clean energy hub in the Northeast. The New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC) was formed in late 2006 when leaders in the Massachusetts’ clean energy industry saw the need for a regional business association to convene clean energy stakeholders dedicated to growing the state and the region’s clean energy economy. In October 2015, reflecting our growing activities in New York State and the rapidly growing community of member companies doing business in New York and across New England, NECEC became the Northeast Clean Energy Council. In September 2024, NECEC rebranded to ACT (The Alliance for Climate Transition) to reflect our expanding member base and broader mission to transition to a diverse climate economy.

🌍 Debunking Misinformation: Acadia Center’s Rebuttal to Flawed Energy Cost Analysis A new report from the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance falsely claims that New England's green energy policies will double electric rates and lead to blackouts. Acadia Center's rebuttal exposes these misleading conclusions, showing how: ✅ Investing in clean energy strengthens the local economy and reduces reliance on imported fossil fuels. ✅ Transitioning to renewables lowers household energy costs over time. ✅ Clean energy infrastructure enhances grid reliability, not jeopardizes it. ✅ Ignoring the climate crisis imposes far greater financial and human costs. ACT is committed to fighting falsehoods with facts and empowering our ecosystem to combat misinformation where they see it. Let’s push past fearmongering and focus on building a clean, resilient climate economy. 📖 Read Acadia Center’s detailed point-by-point rebuttal and share facts, not fiction, to guide energy decisions: https://lnkd.in/gc25Y7-u 🔎 Learn more about common climate misinformation with our misinformation tracker here: https://lnkd.in/etcf_SGD #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy #DebunkingDisinformation #EnergyPolicy

🌎 The Future of Climate Action: ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition President Joe Curtatone Weighs In 🌎 In a recent article by Adam Goldstein in the New Bedford Light, Joe Curtatone emphasizes both the challenges and opportunities ahead for climate work under a new president. “It’d be difficult to go back on a lot of the IRA, but that doesn’t mean [Trump] won’t try. Now is the time to double down on our vigilance, to be vocal, active, and informed.” Curtatone also noted that while grant funds are likely safe due to legal protections, potential changes to tax credits for solar and offshore wind could impact investments, jobs, and communities across the country. Despite these concerns, local clean energy leaders remain confident in the IRA's durability, citing bipartisan support and legal safeguards. Curtatone reminds us that collective action and advocacy will be essential to protecting and advancing the climate transition. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gswrzjXD

🚛 Driving Clean Transportation Forward: Insights from ACT President Joe Curtatone at AEG’s Clean Transportation Summit 🔋 Last week, ACT President Joe Curtatone joined the Advanced Energy Group's Clean Transportation Summit to address one of the Northeast's most pressing challenges: reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. 🔴 Transportation remains the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the Northeast, with medium- and heavy-duty vehicles disproportionately impacting Environmental Justice communities. These emissions exacerbate public health crises, including asthma and respiratory diseases, making clean transportation solutions a matter of health equity and climate action. 🔴 ⭐Joe highlighted the critical role of charging infrastructure and grid upgrades to support the electrification of large fleets. ⭐He praised recent proactive measures, such as the New York Public Service Commission’s directive for utilities to evaluate future energy loads and plan for grid enhancements. As we navigate these challenges, the Clean Transportation Summit serves as a reminder of the power of shared insights, strategic partnerships, and bold action. Thank you to Advanced Energy Group, National Grid, ParkMyFleet, and Driivz for convening this important conversation and supporting the transition to healthier, more sustainable communities. A huge shoutout to Jessica Lang and H.G. Chissell for making this possible! Read the executive summary here: https://lnkd.in/eX4HFd5v Let’s continue building momentum to decarbonize transportation and drive meaningful change for our planet. 🌍 #CleanTransportation #Decarbonization #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalJustice #SustainableInfrastructure
