Hi everyone, like Richard Stafford's son Sebastian, I am one of those unfortunate people who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just over 2 years ago and understand first hand the real mental roller-coaster to ensure my blood sugar levels "stay in range". I am such a foodie so being told that I need to watch my carb and sugar intake is a real struggle. Pre-planning what I want to eat and adjusting my manually injected insulin, is just another calculation that I need to make several times a day. Sebastian's passing affected us immensely and highlighted how fragile life is and how sometimes we just make the wrong decision without fully understanding the impacts. I would love to say that I will bike riding the entire route, but my little legs just won't allow it, so for now my nephew Eddie Sande and I will be joining the group approximately 50kms from the finish line, however we are in serious training now and hope to be stronger by the day which means we can join them earlier in the ride. Unlike Paul Yousseph, along with some of our closest family friends (Moses Samaha, Daas JABBOUR, Nathan Chidiac and Elie Fares), who will be undertaking the entire journey from Bella Vista to Bowral. The ride will take place on Sunday 21st April 2024, where JPY Group will be hosting a free BBQ for all supporters, participants, donors, friends and family and the local community, at Glebe Park in Bowral. All are welcome to join and cheer us crossing the finish line. 9 days after launching the fundraiser, we have already raised $16k from our ambitious $100k target. We are proudly supporting JDRF Australia and Diabetes NSW & ACT. Please reach out to us on sebastiansjourney@jpygroup.com.au if you need any further information on the ride, or if you wish to join this small group of riders. The donation page is https://lnkd.in/gX4XZxSn All donations more than $2 are tax deductible. I know its a big ask but we need to work together to find a cure for this awful disease so your help, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Jano
