Eric Calvo and Justin Grosz had an inspiring evening at The Legal Aid Society's 11th Annual Winter Benefit at The Bowery Hotel in NYC, proudly representing Justice for Kids, a division of Kelley Kronenberg. This organization is one of the oldest and most important organizations in the country representing abused and neglected children in the Juvenile courts. We are deeply grateful to this incredible organization for hosting such a meaningful event. As Platinum Sponsors, we are honored to support the vital mission of protecting and advocating for children's rights. Together, we continue to make a difference in the fight for justice for kids. #JusticeForKids #ChildrensRights #CommunitySupport #KelleyKronenberg #NYC #Advocacy #MakingADifference #FosterCare #ChildAbuse #Adoption #Foster #FosterCareAwareness #FosterFamily #FosterParents #FosterLove #ThisIsFosterCare #FosterKids #FosterYouth #ChildAbuseAwareness #FosterChildren #StopChildAbuse

A unique, leading law practice dedicated to providing legal services to protect abused catastrophically injured children
About us
Justice for Kids, a division of Kelley Kronenberg, is a unique law practice dedicated to providing legal services to protect abused children. Our team includes highly experienced trial lawyers who exclusively serve at-risk and medically fragile children who have been physically, sexually, and emotionally abused or injured or suffered wrongful death in all settings, including family residences, foster homes, group homes, emergency shelters, and residential treatment centers. The team is led by Howard Talenfeld, Justin Grosz, and Stacie Schmerling. At Justice for Kids, we strongly believe that “Justice delayed is justice denied,” especially in the life of a child. Litigation can take years, meaning a significant verdict may come too late to help a child in need. Before any lawsuit or claim is filed, we provide expertise in seeking immediate care where necessary from skilled medical, mental health and planning professionals. This can help prevent or minimize immediate or long-term harm from their trauma and possibly improve their prognosis. At the same time, we seek to negotiate with the social service agencies, insurers, and potential defendants to obtain a fair and timely settlement. Years spent representing insurers has taught us many prefer timely resolution to avoid spending hundreds of thousands of dollars or more defending claims. Our primary goal is to obtain justice – and begin the healing – as early as possible.

As attorneys who represent children who are seriously abused, neglected or injured in child protection systems like DCFS or private agencies contracted to protect these children in child protection systems, our Illinois Justice for Kids Division of Kelley Kronenberg has seen firsthand how the complexities of the state’s child welfare system can cause confusion for both families and advocates. In our latest blog post, attorney Julianna B. Walo breaks down some of the most frequently asked questions about foster care in Illinois. Drug abuse facilities and addiction treatment centers are there to rehabilitate patients, but unfortunately, there are facilities that fail the children they are supposed to protect because some residents bring drugs into the facilities themselves. In other cases, there is a failure to provide appropriate treatment. Additionally, sometimes facilities fail to report or supervise parents who are drug addicts that expose their children to serious harm as a result of the parent’s history of addiction. At the Justice for Kids Division at Kelley Kronenberg, we work tirelessly to ensure any child hurt due to the negligence of an addiction treatment facility receives the justice and care they deserve and need. Gaps in Illinois daycare safety standards can lead to tragic consequences, such as in the case of Ben Kingan. Although Chicago daycare regulations have evolved since this child’s tragic death, we continue to face an Illinois childcare crisis that demands immediate attention. Julianna B. Walo, an attorney in the Justice for Kids Division at Kelley Kronenberg, shares how this case highlights critical weaknesses in our child abuse prevention systems, particularly in daycare settings, in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/erdZu_BH #JusticeforKids #Illinois #DaycareNegligence #ChildProtection #ChildInjuryLaw #KelleyKronenberg

When you think of Orlando, you likely think of theme parks and vacation fun but did you know that Greater Orlando ranks third in the United States for the number of reports to the national human-trafficking hotline? This idyllic tourist spot is often a veneer covering the many failures in the Florida child welfare system. The attorneys from the Justice for Kids Division at Kelley Kronenberg have handled some of its most appalling cases in this region. Learn more about some of the specific cases our attorneys have handled, including a $14.26 million settlement we won on behalf of 19 children against the Florida Department of Children & Families: https://lnkd.in/eiwNMMF7 #JusticeForKids #KelleyKronenberg

It has been 36 years since the filing of a landmark ACLU class action lawsuit that was meant to reform the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Sadly, since then, the treatment of children in state care has actually deteriorated rather than improved. Julianna B. Walo, an attorney with the Justice for Kids Division at Kelley Kronenberg, details the history of the lawsuit, current challenges, and more on this important issue in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/eF_VV5CU #Ilinois #childwelfare #fostercare #JusticeforKids #KelleyKronenberg

Far too often, the places that are meant to help children, like residential facilities, sadly become their sources of harm. This was the case for TB, a young child who was developmentally disabled and was repeatedly raped and sexually abused by other residents who were minors with known histories of sexual and physical aggression. We were able to achieve a significant seven-figure settlement to help this child. In cases like these, the Justice for Kids Division at Kelley Kronenberg seeks to hold accountable the facilities that turn a blind eye to red flags and fail to protect the kids in their care.
