Fantastic panel on sports tourism in #RVA at this morning’s #GRACRE Breakfast! 🏟️🏗️ It was great to hear from Dennis Bickmeier, K. Brooks Ballance, Neil Amin, Brett Burkhart, and J.C. Poma about the impact sports tourism is having on commercial real estate in the region. Our team is proud to support sports tourism in our community. With the new Henrico Sports & Events Center and the ongoing Virginia Center Commons redevelopment in Glen Allen, Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority's state-of-the-art venue had an outstanding first year, boosting sports tourism with over 70 non-local tournaments, including the high-profile Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship. We can’t wait to celebrate the next phase of the Virginia Center Commons redevelopment and other strategic investments across the region. Thanks to all the speakers for sharing their insights! Sustainability is worth celebrating! The Roger Glass Center for the Arts received the Decarbonization Award at the USGBC Local Market Leadership Awards in Columbus last week. We were honored to celebrate with the University of Dayton and the project team during the #USGBCOhio Building Transformation Forum. Revitalizing a former industrial brownfield, the LEED Gold performing arts center’s energy-efficient design, use of local materials, and focus on pedestrian access demonstrate UD’s commitment to sustainable design and construction. Thank you to U.S. Green Building Council - U.S. Market Insights for recognizing this outstanding project. Our team is proud to be a part of it. Champlin Architecture, CMTA, Inc. It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Al Banner, founder of CBC Engineers. Not only was Al one of the founders of what is now our Ohio branch, he was a passionate leader and a man of great faith. We fondly remember Al and are sad to share the news of his passing on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Al’s family. Greg Koontz, CEO, reflects on his admiration for Al Banner: “We truly enjoyed getting to know Al Banner during the acquisition of CBC. Above all else, you quickly learned he was a man of great faith. It was easy to tell during our negotiations that he really cared about the impact to his staff and their future with a new company. We wish his family our condolences and will keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
