  • January is National Mentoring Month, a perfect time to reflect on the power of guidance, support, and encouragement in shaping our futures! Whether you’re looking for a mentor or thinking about becoming one, mentorship can be a life-changing experience that helps both individuals grow in confidence, knowledge, and purpose. 👥 Looking for a Mentor? Here’s how to find the right one: 1️⃣ Identify Your Goals: What skills or knowledge do you want to gain? A clear vision will help you find the right mentor. 2️⃣ Seek Out Inspiring People: Look within your workplace, community, church, or professional networks for someone whose experience aligns with your aspirations. 3️⃣ Build a Genuine Connection: Don’t just ask, “Will you be my mentor?” Start by forming a relationship through conversations, learning from them, and showing appreciation for their guidance. 🌱 Want to Be a Mentor? Here’s how to make an impact: 1️⃣ Listen First: A great mentor listens more than they speak, offering guidance based on the mentee’s unique needs. 2️⃣ Share Your Journey: Be open about your successes and challenges. Your experiences can be valuable lessons for someone else. 3️⃣ Encourage and Empower: Your role is to uplift, challenge, and inspire your mentee to grow into their potential. Mentorship is a two-way street that fosters wisdom, confidence, and personal development for both the mentor and mentee. 💡 This National Mentoring Month, take the next step to invest in your future, or help someone else fill theirs! #FillYourFuture #NationalMentoringMonth #MentorshipMatters #FindAGreatMentor #BeAMentor #LifelongLearning #GrowthAndGuidance

  • As 2025 gets underway, it’s time to think about setting goals for the new year! 🌟 New Year’s resolutions can be a powerful tool for creating positive change, but it’s important to set goals that are healthy, achievable, and aligned with your values. Here are a few tips to help you make resolutions that stick: ✅ Be Specific: Instead of saying, “I want to be healthier,” set a clear goal like “I’ll walk 30 minutes 3 times a week.” Specific goals make it easier to measure progress. ✅ Start Small: It’s great to dream big, but breaking larger goals into smaller, manageable steps makes them more achievable and less overwhelming. ✅ Focus on the Positive: Frame your goals around what you want to build rather than what you want to avoid. For example, “I’ll spend more time with loved ones” feels better than “I’ll stop being distant.” ✅ Track Your Progress: Celebrate small wins along the way! Regularly reviewing your progress keeps you motivated and reminds you of how far you’ve come. ✅ Give Yourself Grace: Change doesn’t happen overnight. If you stumble, it’s OK. Just keep going, and don’t be afraid to adjust your goals as needed. What goals are you setting for yourself this New Year? Let us know in the comments! 🗣️💬 #FillYourFuture #FYFF #NewYearsGoals #GoalSettingTips #HealthyResolutions #PositiveChange #NewYearNewYou #PersonalGrowth

  • No matter who you are or what circumstances you find yourself in, raising a child is never an easy task. But if you happen to be the parent of a gifted child, you are likely to face even more uncertainties and stumbling blocks than you normally would. 😱 Kenosis owner Christine Turo-Shields understands this reality all too well. As a parent of two gifted adult children, she has firsthand experience navigating the ups, downs, ins and outs of giftedness. 💯 In her recent presentation shared on our blog, Christine explains the many different ways giftedness may present itself, where gifted kids excel and struggle, and how parents can best support their gifted children. • Merry Christmas! We wish you a wonderful holiday celebrating the birth of our savior! ✝️🌟 "And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a Baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!'" • Taking a walk with grief is one of life’s most difficult and humbling experiences. Grief forces us to accept the reality of our loss and find a way to move forward with our lives. It requires no small measure of courage, hope, and grace, especially when it signals the end of our life as we know it. Kenosis owner Christine Turo-Shields recently had the honor of interviewing Sister Connie Kramer, a longtime friend and guide who has now embarked on her own walk with grief in the wake of a terminal medical diagnosis. In their interview, Sr. Kramer shares her wisdom on life, love, loss, and faith in the shadow of her own mortality. • In honor of Thanksgiving, we asked our staff what they are grateful for in their work at Kenosis. Here is what Christine Turo-Shields, LCSW, had to say: Q: What are you grateful for? A: I am grateful that I have a front row seat every single day to watch miracles unfold in my clients’ lives. It is truly gratifying to bear witness to the transformations, both small and at times seismic, that occur in each person’s life. Q: When have you felt grateful for this thing? A: As a therapist specializing in grief and trauma, I talk with clients every single day about life and death, including those who wrestle with suicidal thoughts. One dear soul was battling chronic suicidal ideation, symptomatic of intractable OCD, which was not responding to psychotherapy or medication. After undergoing a capsulotomy (a surgical procedure on the brain), the suicidal ideation has all but been relieved. The gift of modern medicine, especially in the area of neuroscience, has given this individual the gift of life—beyond just surviving, but thriving as well! I am simply in awe, each and every day, of the miracles that unfold before my very eyes!
