I’m thrilled to be presenting at This Girl is on Fire: Menopause Online Sexceptional Weekend, hosted by Sexual Health Alliance on January 25-26th, 2025! Join us for this virtual weekend packed with groundbreaking research and practical strategies to support clients and patients navigating peri-menopause and menopause. As part of this event, I’ll be sharing results from the Womanizer Menopause study, which we conducted at the Kinsey Institute earlier this year. We collected a nationally representative sample of 1,500 US women ages 40-65 to address a number of understudied sexual health topics in women who are approaching menopause and those who are in various stages of it. 🌟 Join us for this exciting weekend to break taboos, share knowledge, and empower women through science and connection! 🙌

Recent research from the Kinsey Institute reveals the depth of emotional connections and conversations happening on cam sites. In their most recent private session, of the members who responded: 37% engaged in small talk. 23% had meaningful, non-sexual conversations. 19% developed a crush on a model. 17% expressed love to a model. 10% vented about personal issues. 7% discussed feelings of loneliness. In fact, 1 in 5 clients report forming meaningful emotional connections with their models—highlighting the human element often overlooked. For many, these interactions go beyond the physical, offering companionship, understanding, and authentic feelings. Additionally, most meaningful moments occur before sexual activities in sessions, with 79% engaging in non-sexual talk, 68% having emotionally meaningful discussions, and 64% sharing private information. This survey, conducted by the Kinsey Institute, challenges common misconceptions and shines a light on the nuanced dynamics of client-model relationships. Cam sites often serve as spaces for emotional connection and companionship, particularly for those experiencing loneliness. This research has yet to be published. So stay tuned for more exciting data and publications! Advance Science, Ignite Change 🔥 #ResearchInsights #HumanConnection #EmotionalHealth #LeShaw

📰 We have a new study published in Taylor & Francis Group Communication Reports Journal investigating mediators of sexual stress. Maggie Bennett-Brown, PhD and colleagues found that higher levels of trait affection or #emotionalintelligence were associated with lower sexual stress. Additionally, their data indicated that the combination of affectionate behaviors and higher emotional intelligence may create added resilience against sexual stress. https://lnkd.in/e8YXUwBa Jayita Chakraborty, B.A., M.B.A., M.A., Amanda Gesselman, Camden Smith, M.A., Jessica Campbell, Ph.D. National Coalition for Sexual Health, World Association for Sexual Health

Congratulations to Hannah Javidi for being named a Forbes 30 Under 30 in #healthcare. 👏 for helping normalize comprehensive consent education, making condom negotiation easier, and finding novel ways to improve #sexualhealth such as through your research with waxing estheticians. Your work shows that talking about consent and wellbeing doesn't have to be awkward or uncomfortable. #ForbesUnder30 Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington Eric Walsh-Buhi https://lnkd.in/eebMWjpi

Did you know, emojis may influence the relationship dynamics people have with friends, family, partners, and work connections? 💡🤝🤳 That's what our researchers found in this study published in PLOS One https://lnkd.in/eNjpTdjJ Key takeaways from Amanda Gesselman, PhD: 🗣️ Emoji use is related to traits that facilitate communication and interpersonal bonding 🧠 Higher #emotionalintelligence was associated with more frequently exchanging emojis with friends, especially for women ⛔ People with more avoidant attachment styles exchanged emojis less frequently with friends and with romantic partners "The way we interact during virtual communications may reveal something more about ourselves. It is not just a smiley face or heart emoji: it's a way to convey meaning and communicate more effectively, and how you use it tells us something about you." - Simon Dubé, PhD Ellen Kaufman, PhD Maggie Bennett-Brown, PhD, Vivian Ta-Johnson, PhD, Justin Garcia #research
