https://lnkd.in/e5r9HAxR I’m proud to announce that our team has won the largest ever award of State Historic Tax Credits for our plan to convert the institute of Notre Dame school complex into 126 seniors affordable apartments, accompanied by a long-term lease with the Caroline Center. This recognition from Gov. Wes Moore and MHT reflects not only the immense historical significance of this 170-year-old local landmark, but also the continued need for housing across all income levels and age groups in our city. This milestone is the culmination of 1.5 years of hard work on refining an intricate design, preservation plans, historical research, and assembling a complex financing stack, which would never have been possible without our partners, Grant Searfoss of Severn Development Co. and Michael Burton's entire team at Urban Design Group, LLC. Though we still have a long road ahead, our team is fully committed to making this important revitalization project a reality for East Baltimore, and are proud that these efforts and the support we’ve been receiving from the community will allow us to save and preserve this building for generations to come. MHIC is excited to announce the closing of Cheney Homes, a project led by Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) to address the critical need for affordable senior housing in Jamaica Plain. With $13.9 million in LIHTC equity from our Social Impact Fund, $2 million in loan participation with Eastern Bank, and $500,000 from our Capital Magnet Fund, we are investing in a future where seniors can age in place within their community. Cheney Homes will offer 48 affordable apartments, along with a dedicated facility that provides essential resources and PACE support, fostering a welcoming environment for all residents. This project goes beyond housing; it’s about strengthening an economically diverse, resilient community where seniors thrive and contribute to the rich fabric of Jamaica Plain. Today, the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition announced Senseny Place in Winchester, VA, is a 2024 recipient of the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the Housing for Senior Citizens category. This award recognizes affordable housing initiatives and organizations that have demonstrated impactful use of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. Thank you to the many dedicated partners who believed in this mission and worked alongside us to make Senseny Place a reality. Our Woodhill Station West development in #Cleveland has been voted the best! We are thrilled to receive the 2024 Readers’ Choice Award from Affordable Housing Finance. Woodhill Station West provides affordable housing for 120 families and supported a construction training program for 12 local residents. The entire effort was guided by a neighborhood engagement strategy that included 196 community members.
