About us

LatinoJustice works to create a more just society by using and challenging the rule of law to secure transformative, equitable and accessible justice, by empowering our community and by fostering leadership through advocacy and education. We accomplish our mission by focusing our work around the following pillars: Immigrants Rights | Economic Justice | Voting Rights | Criminal Justice Reform | Leadership Development We use Impact Litigation, Pipeline Education Programs, and Community Engagement & Advocacy as strategies to execute our work: Our impact litigation cases have helped Latinos access educational, employment and housing opportunities, as well as voting rights. Our legal work has also defended Latinos against unlawful law enforcement tactics and hate crimes. Our pipeline education programs provide Latino students with access and resources to pursue a law degree and other higher education that paves the way for professional success and community leadership. Our community engagement and advocacy initiatives ensure that Latinos participate in daily civil life - such as elevating their voices on issues that matter, such as voting, workers's rights, immigrants rights and criminal justice reform. In sum, to be active members and leaders in their communities. LatinoJustice PRLDEF has served tens of thousand of US citizens, immigrants, and non-Latinos whose rights are protected by the precedents set and behaviors modified through the litigation, advocacy, and legal education outreach of our organization.

Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Lisa A. Firko, J.A.D.

As I reflect on this year, I can say that 2024 was an incredible year. It was a year of manifestation, alignment, and community. When I started this year, I had some momentum from 2023, but was at a crossroads professionally. However, that would all change. Throughout the year, I had some full circle moments when I shared and talk about my experiences at this year's HISPA - Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement Three Kings Gala and LatinoJustice PRLDEF Gala - two organizations that supported throughout my journey to becoming an attorney as a pre-law student. I was a panelist at this year's National Latina/o Law Students Association on Judicial Clerkships. I saw and caught up with my familia at this year's Hispanic National Bar Association Corporate Counsel Conference in Seattle. I got involved and supported the local bar associations between New York and New Jersey. I celebrated the achievements of friends, mentors, and colleagues. I finished my time at Union County Counsel's Office and started my judicial clerkship in the NJ Appellate Division. More importantly, I accomplished my boyhood dream of becoming an attorney this year after losing my mom. To have my family, mentors, close friends, and colleagues present at my swearing-in made it more special. I dedicated my swearing-in to my late mom, who would have cried tears of joy and showed immense pride, seeing her child's dream come true after so long. This year has taught me to weather the storm to see the path clearly, things happen for a reason, and to not worry about what's to come, only the here and now. Thank you to everyone who made this year memorable! I am excited on what 2025 has to offer as I continue forward on my journey.
