  • 📖LAUDS quotes aims to inform about sustainable urban manufacturing thanks to the extensive literature retrieved from our team📖 “Cities have a large environmental impact—they consume 60–80% of natural resources globally, produce 50% of global waste, and 75% of greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing emissions and waste will be a major challenge for cities, and in recent years, transitioning to a circular economy has been proposed by policy makers as a potential solution.” Tanya Tsui, David Peck, Bob Geldermans and Arjan van Timmeren (2020). • We’re thrilled to reveal one of the winners of the first LAUDS Factory Open Call “Redesigning Gardens in the Air”! This innovative project reimagines vertical gardening by transforming building facades into vibrant, self-sustaining green spaces. By utilizing excess water from air conditioning units to nourish plants, it enhances urban aesthetics and biodiversity while promoting community involvement in managing these urban prostheses. The project will be carried out by the team led by José María Sánchez-Laulhé from Tejares Once and composed by Fab Lab Sevilla, Nomad Garden, and Ecosistema41, bringing together expertise in architecture, fabrication, and urban ecology. As part of the collaboration with Maker-V10, the team will refine their prototypes using advanced techniques in textiles, electronics, and wood fabrication. Together, we aim to create a sustainable model that bridges design, architecture, and local ecosystems. Stay tuned for updates as this hybrid team brings nature to new heights! 🌿 #GreenSpaces #InnovativeArchitecture #SustainableFuture #UrbanEcology
