📖LAUDS quotes aims to inform about sustainable urban manufacturing thanks to the extensive literature retrieved from our team📖 “Circular economy ideals may encourage the making (and re-making) of goods closer to where they are consumed. While consumer trends like just-in-time production of clothing could bring manufacturing closer to home.” Cities of Making (2018). Introducing the next project selected in the LAUDS Factory open call: “The My(ne)stery of Matter - An Open Source Mobile Recycling Lab for the Masses”. This project tackles the growing issue of textile waste by taking recycling directly to communities. The “Flying Lab” a mobile recycling unit, empowers people to sort, recycle, and redesign textiles on-site. Equipped with open-source machines, this innovative initiative transforms waste into useful products like bioplastic sheets, custom yarns, and even furniture! The project will be driven by the team composed by Sarah Prien and HILO Textiles (founded by Sara Diaz Rodriguez), combining technical expertise and creative ingenuity, counting with the support of Marion Koelle, Kitty Lysenko and Julia Schmitz. In collaboration with Maker-V10, the project will explore distributed recycling systems and sustainable design, making a tangible impact across Copenhagen neighborhoods. Together, we'll build new models for circular economies and community empowerment. Stay tuned for updates as we unravel the fabric of innovation! 🌍 #TextileRecycling #CircularEconomy #SustainableDesign #CommunityEmpowerment #GreenInnovation

📖LAUDS quotes aims to inform about sustainable urban manufacturing thanks to the extensive literature retrieved from our team📖 “Factories in urban areas are usually associated with negative impacts on their urban environments. However, latest production technology can produce fewer emissions and enables factories to fit in cities by being small and with low or zero emissions.” Christoph Herrmann, Max Juraschek, Peter Burggräf, Sami Kara (2020). We’re excited to announce the selection of “AERO: Energy-Saving Air Cleaner Made of Recycled Plastic for Operational Use” as part of the LAUDS Factory open call! This project tackles a critical issue: air pollution by fine particles. Using an innovative gas-liquid amalgam filtration process, AERO efficiently removes fine particles from the air while conserving energy by recycling purified air back indoors. Crafted with sustainability at its core, the device will feature 3D-printed components made from recycled plastic. This initiative is led by the team composed by Damien Weber from Nanotec Filter and Théo FINCK who will ensure the project meets the needs of real-world users. In collaboration with Université de Lorraine, the team will develop and test this innovative solution to ensure its effectiveness, functionality, and ergonomic design. This initiative aims to create healthier work environments while establishing a sustainable model for air filtration systems across Europe. Stay tuned as we clear the path to cleaner air and sustainable innovation! ✨ #SustainableInnovation #CleanAir #Nanotechnology #GreenDesign

📖LAUDS quotes aims to inform about sustainable urban manufacturing thanks to the extensive literature retrieved from our team📖 “Cities have a large environmental impact—they consume 60–80% of natural resources globally, produce 50% of global waste, and 75% of greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing emissions and waste will be a major challenge for cities, and in recent years, transitioning to a circular economy has been proposed by policy makers as a potential solution.” Tanya Tsui, David Peck, Bob Geldermans and Arjan van Timmeren (2020). The Role of Urban Manufacturing for a Circular Economy in Cities. #LAUDSFactories #LAUDSquotes #SustainableManufacturing #Innovation #EUProject
