The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center joint operating committee recognized ELLWOOD Speciality Metals for its contributions to the school during its December meeting. The company hired six graduates and has four current students via the co-op work program in the last year. Another expected four or five jobs will be filled by students in the next year. “I think you got some great teachers here,” operations director Gene DeBlasio said. “We’ve turned some good employees from this school.” https://lnkd.in/ezZ4gtNQ

The Lawrence County commissioners, in a 2-1 vote Tuesday, approved a business facade grant for a building on Fifth Street in Ellwood City that is owned privately by a state representative. State Rep. Aaron Bernstine owns the building that houses a beauty shop and residential apartments. He represents the 8th Legislative District, which is where his building is located. He applied for state grant funding to make changes to enhance the outside of the building, according to county planning Director Amy McKinney. https://lnkd.in/eRNhm_M2
