This week, we are featuring Joshua Echeverria with San Bernardino USD Police Department in California: Officer Echeverria was responding to a battery call at a nearby hospital where medical staff informed him of a young male pacing outside the ER entrance with a large knife in his hand. Officer Echeverria promptly located the suspect and saw a juvenile holding a 12-inch butcher knife appearing to be visibly distressed. Officer Echeverria calmly engaged the juvenile instructing him to drop the knife. He remained calm, speaking gently with him for about five minutes and through his patience and clear communication, he was able to de-escalate the situation and successfully persuaded the young man to release the knife without having to use any force. In a situation like this, it goes to show just how professional and effective Officer Echeverria was in preventing what could have been a really bad outcome. He handled a potentially dangerous situation with composure and ensured a peaceful outcome. Thank you, Officer Echeverria, for being in this line of work and for not only your bravery but also for your tactical approach to this situation and for staying calm to ensure the best possible outcome. Your community is lucky to have someone like you looking out for them. This week, we are featuring Officer Vincer and Officer Dorton with Bristol PD in Virginia: Officer Vincer and Officer Dorton responded to a call at a Goodwill Store in reference to a homeless male who was screaming and causing a disturbance at the business. Upon arrival, they found the homeless man in a state of distress because one of the soles of his only pair of shoes had broken off and he was trying to glue it back on with no luck. He was also upset that the Goodwill Store was not open yet for him to go in and buy a new pair of shoes. The Goodwill Store had told Officer Vincer and Officer Dorton that they did not want the man on their property due to some past disturbances so therefore they had to escort him off the property. Officer Dorton waited until the Goodwill Store opened so he could go in and buy a new pair of shoes for the man with his own money. Officer Dorton and Officer Vincer than proceeded to track the man down and gave him a new pair of shoes. Thank you, Officer Vincer and Officer Dorton, for your act of kindness and making sure this man had a useful pair of shoes to get around in. It is officers like you who give the law enforcement profession a good name and make us proud to feature you both as Servant Officers! #featuredofficers #featuredofficer #featured #feature #featurefriday #fridayfeature #servantofficer #servantofficers #servant #serve #protect #lawenforcement #backtheblue #thinblueline #humanizethebadge #homelessman #actofkindness #cops #copsaregood #sharethegood

Just like a street light that stands steady and unwavering, true leaders need to embody quiet strength, consistency, and reliability. In the past, street lights were more than just lights—they symbolized respect, safety, and the unspoken rules that guided us home. In this blog, Dean explores how embracing those qualities can shape your leadership and inspire trust in those you lead. #leadership #guidinglight #leaders #leadershipblog #streetlight #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipmatters
