  • The #LegumeGeneration project is all about boosting innovation in breeding the next generation of legume crops for Europe🇪🇺. 🤝 This effort is driven by 6⃣ Innovation Communities, each focused on a specific legume species: 🔹soybean 🔹lupin 🔹pea 🔹lentil 🔹phaseolus bean 🔹white and red clover ⏫ These communities combine the entrepreneurial skills of breeders with the creative insights of researchers to improve breeding practices and make legumes more competitive with major crops like wheat. Their work focuses on enhancing crop yields, improving stress tolerance, optimizing resource efficiency, and boosting nutritional quality. 🌟 We've already introduced these Innovation Communities in previous posts! Check them out to learn which partners are involved in each community and why boosting these crops is so vital for Europe’s future. 📝 The innovation communities remain open to new members to ensure long-term sustainability! ℹ️ Learn more about the ICs and take a look at the dedicated posters to explore the objectives, approaches and activities of each community:👉 https://lnkd.in/erh9XiW7 #legumebreeding #soybean #lupin #pea #lentil #phaseolusbean #clover #EUBiodiversity #EUFarm2Fork #EUGreenDeal

🌊🐟 This #WorldFisheriesDay, we’re paving the way for sustainable aquaculture! Sustainable fisheries and aquaculture are key to building fair, healthy, and climate-resilient food systems that protect aquatic ecosystems and prioritise high animal welfare. At #MICROBIOMES4SOY, we’re working to support this vision by developing innovative, plant-based solutions for aquaculture:  ✅ Soya-based aquafeeds that nourish fish while promoting environmental sustainability  ✅ High protein diets to replace traditional fish meal, addressing the challenges of limited availability, high costs, and environmental impact By shifting towards more sustainable aquafeed sources based on soya beans, we’re contributing to:  🍀 Healthier and more sustainable diets for humans and animals  🐠 Affordable, high-quality, and safe feed options for aquaculture  🌍 A more climate-neutral food system With aquaculture being one of the fastest-growing food sectors, adopting European-grown soya beans as a sustainable aquafeed source helps ensure nutritional quality and supports marine biodiversity. 🌱
