This month is Men's Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the mental health challenges that men face and reduce the stigma around seeking health. Phrases like "man up", "boys don't cry" or "toughen up" have been harmful to boys and men for far too long, making it harder for them to seek the support they need and often leading many to suffer in silence. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, you are not alone, and help is available. Call 988 is available for free, confidential and immediate emotional support. Congratulations to Dr. Aziza Shad who received an Agents of Change award during a ceremony earlier this fall at United Nations headquarters in New York! The award honors global changemakers, leaders and innovators who are driving meaningful change for the benefit of humanity. The Global Partnerships Forum recognized Dr. Shad for her deep-rooted passion and lifelong commitment to building stronger health systems and improving the lives of children with cancer through her work at Sinai Hospital and as co-founder and medical director of The Aslan Project, a nonprofit organization devoted to improving pediatric oncology capacity in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Shad is the Ellen W.P. Wasserman chair of pediatrics and chief of pediatric hematology/oncology at the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai. #LifeBridgeHealth
