What makes our team at Lin Health special? Like Amital’s story below, many of our colleagues have personal or familial experiences with chronic pain that were successfully treated with a nervous system-first approach. This provides us with a unique understanding of what it means to live with chronic pain and what it can take away from your life. 👉 It also reminds us to double down on our mission of reclaiming lives from chronic pain through compassionate, evidence-based care. Thank you, Amital, for sharing your story!

The prevalence of chronic pain is growing in America. Researchers asked more than 87,000 people how often they experienced pain in the last three months – 24.3% reported "most days" or "every day.” For Americans aged 45 and older, the prevalence of chronic pain shoots up to 28.7% to 36.0%. An article published today by Tina Reed with Axios shares new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which notes that nearly one in 10 Americans say their chronic pain symptoms are bad enough to regularly limit their life or work. This is an increase from the CDC’s 2019 study, which found 20.4% of Americans said they suffered from chronic pain and 7.4% suffered high-impact chronic pain. Through our work at Lin Health, we support the patients behind these numbers. Clinicians across diverse specialties (primary care, gastroenterology, neurology, orthopedics, among others) are seeking a non-invasive, low-risk treatment adjunct to help their increasing number of patients presenting with chronic pain. A new cross-sectional analytical study published in Nature Portfolio's Scientific Reports explores the significant relationships between personality factors and psychosocial impairment among patients living with pain-related temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Researchers found: ⚫ The association between psychosocial stressors and orofacial chronic pain is well documented in the literature ⚫ Higher levels of anxiety, depression, worry, distress, and somatisation were significantly associated with TMD pain and TMD pain-related disability and impairment ⚫ Central sensitization involves changes in the morphology and function of neurons in the central nervous system, which results in changes in the behavior of pain including causing it to become chronic, more intense, and spontaneous ⚫ Notably, women reported higher pain and anxiety levels than men Keep reading to understand more about the underlying cause of these relationships: https://lnkd.in/gyRCnx63 #TMD #PainManagement #ChronicPain #HealthcareResearch #OrofacialPain #AHSAZ

Why do people get migraines? And what does neuroscience tell us about this painful condition? 🎬 In 3 minutes, Dr. Janani Krishnaswami shares clinical insights on these questions: https://lnkd.in/gwXNHRYc She speaks to the very common phenomenon of migraines including their relation to pain nerves within the brain itself, and what physically happens when the brain senses pain in the brain. A commonality among those suffering with migraines? An intense amount of pressure and/or fear in some form, which can amount to chronic, persistent, unmanaged stress on the body. The good news? Dr. Krishnaswami reports we see very good outcomes with people treated or co-treated with a primary pain approach, which offers nervous-system first, behavioral techniques to treat the whole-person experience of chronic pain. Join us at the American Headache Society’s Scottsdale Headache Symposium this week to learn more about Lin Health’s unique approach! #AHSAZ #Migraine #Headache #ChronicPain #NeuroplasticPain #PainRecoveryIsPossible

🔍 A recent study published in Psychology Today reveals that gender can significantly influence pain perception and processing. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gBJUZPtW This new research highlights how men and women experience pain differently, including why women have more chronic pain and do not respond as well to opioid medications. Understanding these differences is crucial for healthcare professionals and researchers as it can lead to more personalized pain management strategies. As we continue to explore the complexities of chronic pain care, it's essential to consider how these variations can inform treatment and support. Lin Health’s highly personalized approach empowers patients to pick their Pain Recovery Coach, customize a Care Plan to their unique needs, and engage as often as they need, including in-between visits with their provider or in real-time during a pain flareup. #PainManagement #ResearchInsights #Opioids #ChronicPain

Patients living with chronic pain often require high intensity care because the persistent nature of the condition can significantly impact quality of life and lead to complications such as functional limitations. For these reasons, we are proud to collaborate with Mayo Clinic to support their primary care patients presenting with chronic pain, as well as those living with fibromyalgia. Our work together offers patients a multidisciplinary, high-touch approach that addresses not just pain management but also the biopsychosocial aspects of this condition. #PainRecoveryIsPossible #NeuroplasticPain #ChronicPain #PainManagement #PrimaryCare #Fibromyalgia
In an effort to improve care transition support, Mayo Clinic is collaborating with Lin Health to provide patients who complete Mayo Clinic's Fibromyalgia Treatment Program with new tools to monitor, assess and address chronic pain from the comfort of their own homes. #innovation #collaboration
