  • Henry's weight starkly contrasts with the standard for the Beagle breed. According to the American Kennel Club, an adult Beagle standing at 13 inches or less should weigh less than 20 pounds. However, Henry, a Beagle, weighs a staggering fifty-six pounds. Henry's journey of being caged and fattened up for immoral purposes is over. A new journey has begun, leading to physical and emotional health. A word of caution to every family member "stuck with a parent's companion": social media and Craig's List are predators' playgrounds seeking 'desperate' owners to solve their 'dog (or cat) problem.' Are you concerned that an overcrowded shelter would euthanize the dog? They might. But what fate is worse: humane euthanasia or being served as a dog fighting prize, where the winner eats all? Join us by following Henry's hope, health, and happiness journey. #LiveLongLiveWell #Beagles

  • Today, we witnessed a role reversal in the playground. It's usually Noel leaping onto her life partner, St. Nick. Noel's presence undeniably has a positive impact on St. Nick's life. It makes him feel energetic, optimistic, and youthful, even as he ages physically. Noel helps St. Nick maintain a "young at heart" attitude. As dogs age, it's important to focus on their health. Maintaining muscle health is crucial for their overall well-being. Age-related muscle loss, sarcopenia, can significantly impact senior dogs' mobility and overall quality of life. It is essential to support their health through high-quality food, supplements, and wellness exams. #LiveLongLiveWell

  • Shih Tzus, known for their resilience, were once cherished by royalty during the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644 A.D). However, after the 1949 Communist revolution, all Shih Tzus in China were tragically killed due to their association with wealth. Centuries later, at the age of eight, Delilah's life was in danger when she developed bladder stones, and her owners asked the vet to euthanize her. It's difficult to understand the reasons behind such a drastic decision without passing judgment. However, we are grateful that the Dallas veterinarian sought LGCR's help. Since 2022, Delilah has been living a healthy and joyful life with her Senior2Senior mom. They treat each other like royalty, and their bond is a testament to the joy and fulfillment that forever fostering can bring without the financial burden senior citizens face in responsible pet caregiving. As legal guardians to over one hundred adoption-disadvantage senior dogs, our Senior2Senior forever foster program has achieved a new milestone. Today, fifty percent of our seniors live off sanctuary and loving a traditional companionship life.

  • Why is LGCR committed to a CPR training program for staff and volunteers? Consider a few facts provided by the American Heart Association: ·        More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of a hospital setting in the U.S. every year. ·        Most cardiac arrests take place in the home. ·        Both compressions and breaths are critical in drowning, choking, drug overdoses, and pediatric CPR. ·        If you perform CPR, you can triple the person’s chance of survival. ·        The life you save with CPR will most likely be someone you love. We are always ready to make a difference and save lives by equipping our volunteers and staff with life-saving CPR techniques.

  • An organization's ethos is the underlying belief system that guides its actions and identity. It is the foundation for everything else it does through programs and activities, such as LGCR's Senior2Senior Companionship program. Our ethos is a set of values and beliefs about how the world should work and how we, as an organization, should interact with our community. We deeply value our supporters, staff, and volunteers, as they are integral to our mission. Living Grace Canine Ranch's ethos is rooted in hopefulness. We are committed to envisioning a Texas that embraces an advanced-age dog's natural beauty and value, deeming it worthy of providing hope, health, and happiness. #livelonglivewell #ethos

  • Kindness is a balm for the soul. Extending kindness to animals enables us to realize our complete potential as human beings. Look no further than the LGCR sanctuary in Bertram, TX, to experience unconditional kindness for animals and humans. Jeremy, a trustworthy steward of kindness, is naturally gifted with compassion for animals. His actions are not just heartwarming but also a privilege to witness. While mowing, he came across a nest of baby bunnies. After providing water, he relocated the family to a shaded spot and staked a sign to avoid dog walking. Whether comforting emotionally challenged residents or furry friends in the field, Jeremy's kindness lives up to LGCR's motto, Where Love Resides.

  • In 2020, LGCR introduced a vision to improve the welfare of senior dogs in Texas without traditional shelter adoption. The Senior-2-Senior program connects senior dogs with senior citizens and veterans, addressing loneliness and depression. 45% of LGCR's residents now live in their forever homes, showcasing the program's impact through wagging tails and the joy in senior citizens' eyes. Sr. Citizens and veterans in the Greater Georgetown, TX area are invited to apply: https://lnkd.in/gnJZum4q

  • Please take a moment to show your appreciation to #WagHeaven in Georgetown. Thanks to their purchasing power as a Weruva distributor, our Palliative Pantry can now stock up on almost 40% more cans of end-of-life nutrition. This news has our tails wagging with gratitude. With Wag Heaven's unwavering community commitment to animal welfare and your generous support, LGCR serves hope, health, and happiness to senior dogs who have been left behind. We sincerely appreciate your contribution. LGCR's Palliative Pantry Food Drive ends on Monday; please give. To donate, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gnJb3pkM

  • A marginalized dog is someone who urgently needs help, is systematically excluded from participating fully in society, and faces significant disparities in their life, not excluding life itself. Marginalized dogs can be labeled as adoption-disadvantaged for reasons such as their age and physical, medical, and emotional challenges. Since 2020, LGCR has championed a unique animal welfare perspective, bringing hope and optimism to the lives of senior marginalized dogs. We believe that all dogs desire human companionship and are worthy of living with hope, health, and happiness. Join us: https://lnkd.in/e3Q7dSZ

  • Activities That Serve a Higher Purpose Canine enrichment is a topic of significant importance. It goes far beyond just providing fun toys and activities for dogs. It's about understanding and meeting their psychological needs. Furthermore, research from the Institute for Brain Aging and Dementia, Science and Technology Center confirms that adding behavioral enrichment to the lives of aging dogs impacts their cognitive abilities and may slow down longevity-based cognitive decline. At the LGCR sanctuary, enrichment activities are a daily fare for residents. Sara Fleming, LGCR's Enrichment Coordinator, dedicatedly works to ensure that activities vary depending on the dog's needs, but the objective is the same: a joy-filled life journey.
