  • 📢 Introducing Galileo AI, the newest member of your product team — reinventing how digital product teams create great digital experiences. In today’s digital-centric world, product teams are tasked with owning critical KPIs: conversion, adoption, retention, and more. When those KPIs don’t perform as expected, teams dig through massive amounts of data to figure out why. 🔬 🔎 Too often, though, those teams fail to find the root cause of a conversion or adoption problem because the important issues are buried in all their data. 🤯 😕 That’s where Galileo comes in: 🕵♂️ Galileo watches every user session in your app 🤔 Gains a human-like understanding of your app and its flows 🗣 Surfaces the most impactful user struggle and behavior patterns 🎯 Guides teams on where to invest for creating great user experiences 📺 Each issue comes with session replays to see exactly what went wrong Find out why Common App (yes, the site used by millions of students to apply to colleges) uses Galileo to identify critical issues impacting students, saying: “In the past, we might hear that something was wrong with our application submission flows, but figuring out the root cause and its impact was a time-consuming process, and we couldn’t be sure that the changes we made would move the needle. LogRocket’s AI capabilities easily allow teams across Common App to proactively identify the highest-impact issues and their causes in the areas of our app we care about the most.” Read the whole blog post here: https://lnkd.in/esn2Kb5W

“What the heck is happening during checkout?” I heard this from nearly all the PMs I talk to running Shopify stores. They know how their customers are browsing their site, but checkout is a complete black box. That’s why I’m excited to announce LogRocket’s new Shopify app! For the first time, you can finally get full session replay of your customers’ journeys, from landing page to purchase complete. Running a Shopify store? You can now see the exact friction points and issues that cause customers to drop out of the checkout process. Check out the link in comments to get started!

  • AI isn't taking your developer job—unless you're only doing replaceable work. 💡 "AI today is like a junior developer—it can produce a lot of code, but it doesn’t always fit the standards or work long-term." As AI continues to reshape the tech industry, the key to job security isn't just writing code—it's understanding how to shape, refine, and improve it. On today’s episode of PodRocket, Roy Derks, Developer Experience at IBM, shares why foundational engineering skills are more valuable than ever: 1️⃣ AI can generate tons of code, but without human expertise, it lacks the structure and adaptability for real-world applications. 2️⃣ Developers who move beyond simple implementation and focus on deeper engineering skills will future-proof their careers. “UX needs to be part of the product organization. Oftentimes, you’ll find UX embedded within engineering, but I believe it should be in product. Product is about defining what it is that you’re going to build, and engineering then defines how you’re going to build it. UX figures out how it’s going to look, behave, and feel from a customer experience perspective. Then, as you build the product process through roadmapping, feature definition, user stories, etc., the UX team has to be intimately involved in all of these pieces. And if you’re blessed with enough resources to have a UX person assigned to each of your major portfolio areas, there’s an element of continuity that develops over time between the portfolio’s UX leader and product leader. They work hand-in-hand, looking out into the future about where the product is trying to go. The UX team can help with research into what the feature function should look like, as well as how the rest of the team should think about implementing it. Conversely, the product team needs to be aware of what the UX needs in terms of timing. Can the design the UX team made actually be built by engineers? How much time will they need? You are in it together to make sure that the end design is implemented and matches what you all intended.” I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Brian Fugere of CentralSquare Technologies about the importance of having marketing, product, and UX constantly aligned early for a successful launch of any product. He also shared an example of implementing and standardizing a feedback loop to improve the overall customer experience. #ProductLeadership #UX Link in the 1st comment 👇

Thank you Sibel Bagcilar for a wonderful conversation - it was my pleasure to do the interview with you on how product managing AI-based products is different from the more traditional "deterministic" products, and on the role of PM is changing thanks to AI.

“With probabilistic AI and ML-based software specifically, the expectations of predictability of development cycles have changed. Say you’re working with a team of engineers as an experienced product manager. You want to develop some kind of feature that, while changing UI here or backend components there, you can usually always accurately predict how long it will take. But, because all the AI-based development is rather new, you don’t know, but it’s hard to tell that to your CEO or stakeholders. In the past, I’d run two tracks. For every project and initiative that we started working on, we thought hard about what universe it belonged in — more well-known or more experimental. If the answer is ‘well-known,’ then I can behave like a normal, traditional product manager and will avoid saying, ‘I don’t know,’ to every question. However, when working with a more risky, experimental project, I’d clearly label it as a research project. Then, the project management of it would become different as well. Suddenly, the deliverables aren’t code; they’re experiments. If a data scientist asks, ‘Can we do this?’ I could work together with them. We could break things into a sequence of smaller questions so each one would take no longer than a week to answer. A week is the maximum you should take in a commercial environment, and if one week passes without answering a question, we could disprove it. Then, the range of uncertainty would start to narrow down, and at some point, the research project graduates into a more traditional software development one.” I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Eugene Mandel of RingCentral about the importance of “show, don’t tell” with AI products and how it’s crucial to enable user visibility into AI applications. He shared how the role of the product manager is evolving with advancements in technology, as well as the skills PMs should have to prepare for this future. #ProductLeadership #AI Link in the 1st comment 👇

“What is your company doing that aligns with its strategy, that in turn relates to your budget for investing? I wouldn’t say that it limits imagination or creativity, but it determines how you’re going to realize that…We all want to decrease technical complexity. How do you look at your current partners and their roadmaps and bring customer problems to them that you both want to solve? It comes back to something mutually beneficial, which is a great thing. These parameters don’t necessarily limit where you can go but will just determine how you need to accomplish it and who you need to work with.” It was such a pleasure to connect with Brad Power of Kendra Scott to get his perspective on when to pursue a buy, build, or ally strategy. Brad talked about key factors to consider and critical questions to ask as part of the evaluation process. He also shared valuable insights into turning those aha moments that surface from customer interactions into substantial product changes. For those who are thinking of selecting an AI partner, here are some takeaways from the interview: 💪 What is the company's track record and do they have customer references?  🧬 Is AI in their DNA, or are they just offering it because it’s the current buzzword? 🛣️ Do you understand their roadmap and commitment to invest and grow it? 🛠️ Are they building on top of an open source AI model, and if so, how much control do they have over product direction? 🧠 How does the AI model learn? Is it ingesting information from other platforms or sources that may not align with your brand? #ProductLeadership #UserExperience Link in the 1st comment 👇

You're one week away from launching a major internal product and disaster strikes... Someone asks 👇 "Have we figured this little thing out? Because if we don’t, I think we kill the business overnight." ‼️ That one question stopped Rich DiTieri in his tracks. ‼️ When Jeff Wharton talked to Rich on LaunchPod about his experience in product, Rich had a huge wakeup call when someone asked him this question right before launch. It turned out that because of this oversight, 10 interconnected business processes would be disrupted, creating a massive ripple effect they hadn't accounted for. And the insight didn’t come from the core product team... It came from someone in a business unit they hadn’t even considered a key stakeholder. 😱 💡 Lesson learned: ✅ The assumptions you don’t check can be the ones that break everything. ✅ Every product decision has a waterfall effect—map it out early. ✅ Encourage a culture where anyone can raise their hand. The smallest insight can prevent the biggest disaster. Rich caught it just in time. But not everyone gets that lucky. ➡️ Check out the rest of the story in our latest episode of LaunchPod: https://lnkd.in/eX_U56ra Have you ever had a close call like this? Let’s hear your stories. ⬇️

  • AI is NOT killing your software engineer career. 💡 "The biggest misconception is that relying heavily on advanced tools will secure your place in the industry." With the job market for developers becoming increasingly competitive with the introduction of AI, simply using cool tools isn't enough to stand apart from the competition. On today’s episode of PodRocket, Steve Ruiz, founder at tldraw shares why deep, foundational skills are critical for a sustainable career in engineering: 1️⃣ The inevitable shrinking of the labor market due to AI advancements means that lower-level, harder engineering skills are becoming more crucial. 2️⃣ If you're chasing a career in development, diving deep into core engineering concepts will provide lasting benefits. You're presenting your product data to your exec team, but your engineering director tells everyone your data is wrong. Is this a nightmare or an opportunity to transform your data transparency? 🤔 When it comes to data, we all know it can make or break your product. But at the root of that problem is how data processes are structured and communicated. On this week's episode of the LaunchPod podcast, Jeff Wharton talked to Eric Metelka, Head of Product at Eppo, about the time his engineering director at Cameo called out his data for being wrong, and how he used that experience to: ➡️ Transform experimentation practices ➡️ Provide better data transparency ➡️ Prove his impact as a PM leader (and how you can too) So what were Eric's top tips for better experimentation practices? 📏 Measure Experiments Rigorously ↳ Ensure balanced traffic allocation (e.g., 50/50 for two variants) to avoid Sample Ratio Mismatch (SRM) errors that skew results. 🪟 Prioritize Transparency ↳ Ensure visibility into experiment setup and code implementation. A "black box" approach can lead to nasty surprises. 🔬 Build a Strong Data Science Team ↳ A capable data science team can validate your experimentation program and provide essential auditing. 🤝 Transparency Builds Trust ↳ Without trust in your data, proving your impact becomes impossible. 🤔 Start with a Solid Hypothesis ↳ Base your hypothesis on quantitative data, qualitative data, or an intersection of the two. 🪢 Tie Experiments to Business Metrics ↳ Connect experiment outcomes to your North Star metric. At Cameo, the focus was on driving more orders. Getting users to click to the next page is good, but not if it doesn't result in more revenue. 🔄 Be Aware of Tradeoffs ↳ There are different types of tests that you can run. The standard is a sequential method, which allows you to refresh and look at results in real time, but know you are trading off some of the time to run the experiment. Want to learn more about how you can up your data game and prove your impact as a PM? Check out our latest episode of LaunchPod (and subscribe to our channel!): https://lnkd.in/dgXPev5X
