In honor of Veterans & Military Families Month, we're shining the spotlight on our #TeamLonePeak colleagues who have served in the Armed Forces! Amber, a nurse in our Emergency Department, served in the U.S. Air Force from 2007-2018. She was stationed in Germany at Ramstein Air Base and at various Air Force Bases throughout the United States. "My service impacted my life and patriotism in many ways, but the one that stands out is my deep sense of patriotism, sense of duty, selfless service, and personal courage," says Amber. In honor of Veterans & Military Families Month, we're shining the spotlight on our #TeamLonePeak colleagues who have served in the Armed Forces! Andre, from our security team, served in the U.S. Army. He was on active duty in Fort Irwin, CA from 2011-2014 and in the reserves from 2014-2018. Join us in celebrating Michelle and McKaylee from our Women's Services team! Both of them recently earned their NCC Credentials in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) 👏 These rigorous tests evaluate an experienced nurse's understanding of pregnancy complications, labor & birth, postpartum recover, newborn care, and more. Achieving board certification demonstrates a nurse’s knowledge reflects national standards and a deep commitment to patient safety. These leaders are great examples to the rest of their colleagues, and we are so proud of them! In honor of Veterans & Military Families Month, we're shining the spotlight on our #TeamLonePeak colleagues who have served in the Armed Forces! Cameron, from our pharmacy team, served in the Air Force from 2009-2013 as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Technician. Cameron worked on KC-135R Stratotanker planes, which do inflight refueling for other planes. He was deployed two times and served in Southern Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Cameron continued to serve in the Utah Air National Guard from 2013-2017. "When working on airplanes, you need to have great attention to detail and know how to prioritize your work to keep on schedule. These skills have helped me become a better pharmacist in that each patient gets my full attention," says Cameron. "I use a systematic approach where I look very closely at the medication orders to make sure they're appropriate. This allows me to perform at my best in situations when our patients need us the most." Cameron says that being in the Air Force helped him advance his education, travel to places he never would have seen otherwise, and learn about other cultures. We are grateful to have him at Lone Peak Hospital! Happy Veterans & Military Families Month to our veterans at Lone Peak Hospital and their families! ❤️🤍💙 #WeShowUp #VeteransMonth | HCA Healthcare

This week is National Perioperative Nurses week, where we celebrate our amazing nurses in the surgical services department! 😷 Meet Kathy, a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse at Lone Peak Hospital who was worked for HCA Healthcare for 35 years 🎉 Kathy started her nursing career at St. Mark's Hospital, working for many years in the ICU before being asked to work in the PACU at a brand new Lone Peak Hospital 9 years ago. "I love working in the PACU because I get to do all the good stuff!" says Kathy. "They come to me asleep after surgery and when they wake up, the surgery and anxiety is over. I get to reunite them with their family, help them recover...it's a great place to be." "My office is right outside of PACU and I love listening to Kathy talking to her patients." says Kaitlyn, Director of Surgical Services. "Not only does she have strong clinical abilities but she has a great manner that puts patients at ease. She talks to everyone like family and lets them know exactly what to expect with their recovery. She is not afraid to advocate for her patients and make sure they receive the appropriate level of care." When she's not in the PACU, Kathy loves to spend time with her 9 grandchildren and serve her community. We are lucky to have you at Lone Peak, Kathy! Happy Perioperative Nurses week to our surgical services team! #WeShowUp #PerioperativeNursesWeek
