One of the trickiest things about a developing eating disorder is spotting the fine line between dieting, or a healthy concern for physical health, and disordered eating. Loved ones who know a person's relationship to their body and their daily eating habits are often the first line of defense to detect that line and prevent damage. “There was no time for me to have therapy. You’re the mom — this is what you signed up for.” As a parent, making the choice to send your child to inpatient or residential care for a mental health crisis feels like an impossible task. But it’s the choice that Alisha made for her daughter, Alaina, to get her the life-saving care she needed for an eating disorder. Feeling her relationship strained with her daughter during recovery, Alisha credits the regular check-ins she had with Lucet Care Manager Karen as what got her through the toughest moments. Listen to Alisha’s full story to understand why care management for the whole family can make all the difference in mental health treatment success: https://lnkd.in/ez2jUu99 If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, you can find resources through the National Eating Disorders Association. Much of our time spent on the internet is on social media. This means daily, if not hourly, exposure to hundreds of images of other people that are posed in the best lighting, edited to perfection, or even AI-generated. Particularly for younger generations, this constant exposure can take a toll on body image. Over time, it can affect our perception of what people really look like, add pressure to change how we look, or even lead to disordered eating. To have a healthy relationship with our bodies, it's key to actively remind ourselves and recognize that photos are altered. Learn how with Lucet’s Shawna Sielert (Licensed Professional Counselor). #BehavioralHealth #MentalHealth #MindMatters #SocialMedia #BodyImage #EatingDisorders
