While the holidays can stir up mental health challenges related to grief, unrealistic expectations, and pressure to be merry, Thanksgiving in particular can be a challenging time for Native Americans. Most Americans get a one-sided tale of the significance of Thanksgiving, erasing the experience of indigenous people altogether. It's important that we continue to attune ourselves to the challenges of this season and provide compassionate and culturally-sensitive, evidence-based care.
