A good start to the new year with a return to the QED Brussels stage, this time discussing securitisation reform in the EU as part of efforts to deliver the Savings and Investments Union. An opportunity to make MFA's case for a narrower definition of securitisation, right-sizing the due diligence requirements for investors and broadening the roster of potential sponsors to include alternative investment fund managers. My thanks to Rebecca Christie for chairing and fellow panellists Presiyan Petkov, Claudia Gonzalez Cabanillas and Christian M. Stiefmueller.

Thanks to Diana Preston and Matt Bisanz for hosting and moderating a lively conversation at the ABA Banking Law Committee meeting. Long-story short on Treasury clearing: more time is needed before mandatory clearing in order to build and develop both regulatory and operational infrastructure to ensure a smooth transition in Treasury markets to mandatory clearing!

We had a wide-ranging discussion of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's rulemaking on government securities and equity market structure at the American Bar Association Banking Law Committee Meeting. Appreciated the opportunity to share views about the past, present, and future with Jennifer Han (MFA), Ari Burstein (Imperative Execution), and Matthew Bisanz (Mayer Brown).
