Magmec has been shortlisted for the Deep Connexion program run in Paris with two bootcamps set to take place during 2025 in Paris and Kingdom of Morocco. We will be alongside 6 other leading European start ups involved in water technology and showcasing our innovation in brine mining. Magmec is developing a process to produce low-carbon magnesium metal from coastal brine sources, including water desalination by-products, turning industrial waste into a valuable material that no longer relies on traditional land-based mining for minerals. This summer, I booked a one-way ticket to San Francisco with one goal: to transform the mining industry. Along the way, I met amazing people who became trusted friends and advisors. A highlight was collaborating with Vetri Labs for lab space and visiting Berkeley SkyDeck a top accelerator where innovations like Lime were born. At MAGMEC we’re developing cost-competitive, low-carbon metals from waste brine, believing cleaner metals can power everything we use. The Bay Area’s supportive community, where answers are just one call away, has been invaluable. One standout was meeting Akonkwa Mubagwa, CEO and co-founder of Winko Solar (SkyDeck W22), which delivers solar-powered oxygen to hospitals across Africa. His journey is a testament to the critical role accelerators play in turning big ideas into reality. Let's keep building!
