Together, we create life-changing wishes for Michigan children with critical illnesses.
About us
Make-A-Wish® Michigan's mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish. It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it's the founding principle of our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Wishes are more than just a nice thing. And they are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved—wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic. And still others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy.

Today and every day, we are inspired by our community of supporters, whose acts of generosity make a big impact on the lives of children facing critical illnesses. Thank you for helping unwrap the power of a wish. 💙 As an example of amazing supporters of our mission, we are so proud of The Grateful Team, who recently accepted the “Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser” award at the Association of Fundraising Professionals National Philanthropy Day event! The Grateful Team is a dedicated fundraising and community group supporting Make-A-Wish Michigan’s largest fundraising event, the annual Wish-A-Mile Bike Tour. The riders choose to ride 300 mile, 200 mile, and 100 mile routes. Formed in 2023, The Grateful Team started with 11 members and quickly grew to 37 members in 2024. Their unrelenting commitment to comradery and fun continues to inspire new members, and together, the group raised over $110,000 this year alone! United by a shared passion for granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses, The Grateful Team models the power and joy of working together to make a difference in the community! Looking ahead, the team plans to expand their annual calendar of projects, recruit more members and continue to bring hope and confidence to children when they are needed most. 💙⭐️ *Special thanks to The Grateful team for producing this video Visit Michigan.wish.org/donate to make a difference this #NationalPhilanthropyDay. 🌟

What an out of this world wish reveal for wish kid Liam and his family! Thanks to our board, staff and volunteers to help make this happen! 🚀 🌟 💙
Today, we went to the moon, circled Mars, and even saw a few stars! We did all this before 11 a.m. by hosting a social wish reveal for Liam, who is going on his wish this weekend to NASA. This wish sendoff was a total surprise for our space-loving wish kid! This sendoff also kicked off the FY25 Make-A-Wish Michigan board retreat! We spent the rest of the day discussing our moonshot ideas and planning the next five years of TRANSFORMATIONAL wish granting. Our goals are finding more kids to grant wishes for, creating even more transformational wishes, and increasing the funds we raise to do more for those we serve. A huge thank you to our amazing board and staff—they are simply the best! Denise L. Claire, 14 wish to go to New York City came true! Claire and her family visited the Bronx Zoo, the New York Aquarium, Museum of Ice Cream, saw Aladdin on Broadway, Luna Park at Coney Island and toured the city seeing all the sites! Here is what Claire had to say about the trip: “Going to New York City was amazing! I’ve always wanted to see the city in person, and it was even better than I imagined. The food was so good and shopping was so fun. I loved going to Time Square and seeing Aladdin the musical. After being in and out of the hospital for two years, it was so great to finally be able to enjoy this trip and feel healthy again after my kidney transplant. It was a trip I’ll never forget.” -Claire Claire is treated at #HelenDeVosChildrensHospital for a kidney transplant. For Moci, ballet isn’t just a hobby – it’s a sanctuary. Despite the fatigue and disruption caused by her blood disorder, dancing offers her a mental escape – and a confidence boost, especially when performing in front of 2,000 people. “When I do get to stand out there and bow in front of all those people, they just look so happy, and I feel so happy when I put on a great show. I feel like, if I can do this, I can do anything, right?” – Moci 🩰💙 Moci’s wish to go to the ballet is a reminder to keep fighting. Now, more than ever, the hope and joy of a wish is the most valuable gift you can give to children like Moci. Donate now to help make more wishes come true: michigan.wish.org/donate
