Innovative cold-chain technologies and tools help healthcare professionals worldwide manage this essential yet challenging process. The USAID #SAFEMed Activity, led by MSH, is supporting #vaccinesafety in #Ukraine by equipping 13 regional Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (rCDCs) facilities with hundreds of 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴—devices that continuously monitor storage temperatures to ensure vaccines stay within safe ranges, safeguarding their effectiveness and ensuring that high-quality, life saving vaccines are available to all. “Because these devices record the temperature throughout the entire time the vaccine is stored, we can monitor the minimum and maximum temperature and identify any variation in temperature right away,” said Viktoriia, a rCDC pharmacist in the city of Khmelnytskyi in western Ukraine. “𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥," she added. In #Ukraine, the country’s full-cycle supply chain agency, the Medical Procurement of Ukraine (MPU), is fulfilling this mission—from procuring and storing medicines to ensuring the last-mile delivery of lifesaving health commodities. The MSH-led SAFEMed Activity collaborates with the MPU to support its efforts in modernizing supply chain operations—from developing improved #datamanagement systems to assisting warehouse staff in organizing, storing, and moving commodities more efficiently. Recently, SAFEMed provided the agency’s main medical supply warehouse with essential heavy equipment, including two electric forklifts and five hydraulic pallet trucks.
