Mantel is developing the first molten-salt based carbon capture technology. Our molten borates are designed to operate at the high temperatures found inside boilers, kilns, and furnaces – enabling highly efficient carbon capture that has not been possible until now. Carbon capture can be applied across industry to reduce emissions - and even achieve net-negative emissions. By solving for efficiency Mantel can reduce energy losses by more than 60% and cut costs in half, unlocking carbon capture’s role in reaching global net zero.

Kruger inc. has announced a $23.75 million investment in a demonstration project for carbon capture and reuse at its Wayagamack Mill in Trois-Rivières, aiming to capture up to 5 tons of high-quality CO2 per day. Kruger partnered with the developers of the carbon capture technology, Mantel Capture Inc., a pioneering North American start-up founded by engineers and scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Our team members, Anna Eckhoff and Mark Morawski PMP, connected with a wide range of attendees, including industrial emitters, fellow startups, Canadian and provincial government officials, and ecosystem builders. We were thrilled by the strong interest from emitters, many of whom are actively seeking effective solutions for decarbonization. A special highlight was seeing our host site partner for our demo project—Balazs Tolnai from Kruger Inc. —reaffirming the strength of our partnerships in Canada. Anna also took to the main stage, pitching Mantel’s technology to a full audience and generating excitement around our approach to carbon capture. Sigma Thermal, known for delivering process heating solutions that cater to a wide range of applications and industries, is constructing the salt tanks that will play a crucial role in our carbon capture efforts. 👷♀️ We love showcasing our engineers in the field, collaborating closely with our vendors. We're thrilled to see these next-gen systems take shape and are grateful for the incredible collaboration and dedication of our partners.
