We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jack Ingels, former professor at SUNY Cobleskill, earlier this fall. Jack was an immensely well-respected and knowledgeable professor whose passion for his students has inspired countless members of our industry, including our very own Edward Furner from Mariani Landscape: “At SUNY Cobleskill, his legacy lives on in the program he created over the course of so many years as a professor and so many leaders/titans of the landscape industry owe a great deal to Jack and his mentorship and guidance both inside and outside the classroom." Let's talk about the backyard landscape as part of the larger landscape. 🌄 No landscape is an island (except in very specific cases), and while we often try to create our own backyard oasis disconnected from the rest of the world, there's something to be said for noticing what's around us and working with it, rather than trying to block it out. This landscape is located on a street corner in the heart of a charming little town. Rather than putting in hedges, which would have added privacy but made this already small space even smaller, the clients wanted to keep things open. They wanted to maintain their view out--and they wanted to invite the view in by creating something beautiful for people passing by. Whether you live on a small downtown property or are surrounded by sprawling farmland, noticing what's around you--and considering how it can play into your landscape--is an important part of the design process!

What a great couple of days at the National Association of Landscape Professionals Elevate Conference in Charlotte. The Mariani Premier Group was represented by a conferencing leading 49 team members. Our team did an outstanding job leading several panels covering topics ranging from best practices, use of autonomous mower technology, M&A integration experiences, and developing your own personal brand. We were also excited to collect our 31 awards of excellence, including 9 gold awards. Thanks to all of our team members for their participation and gathering lessons learned for all our companies.
